VIR (Full) Recap: Triangle Z Club
Thank you very much for the detailed response.
You are most welcome. This is a great forum and I am sure others can pitch in with thoughts as well.
The tires are the most important thing to be mindful of in this environment.
Brakes don't stop or slow the car, the tires do.
The wheel does not turn the car, the tires do.
The motor does not accelerate the car, the tires do.
When you can read and listen to the tires and what they are telling you constantly, you can take your driving to the next level. They don't lie to you either. The street tire complains and whimpers a lot, you just have to sort out when it is complaining and when it really means it. The DOT-R talks, but it waits for a while until it starts to matter. The slick is sort of Rambo like, it makes a quiet little gesture or whisper, then all hell breaks loose if you weren't paying respect and proper attention.

I'm heading down to VIR Friday afternoon to run the Grand Course configuration with Mazda drivers.
I got some pictures back from my event a week and a half ago so I thought I'd share a few:
Headlights on = Day 1 in the wet
Headlights tapes = Day 2 in the dry

Ah, I walked over briefly I think and spoke to you. Your Subie was on stands a lot - I hope you made it back to Mass ok.
I'm looking at doing an event with a buddy of mine who's up in MA this fall. Looking at LRP most likely or perhaps WGI.
I always wanted to buy a Subie when I was still living in RI and do the BMW CCA ice racing events.

That orange thing was called a "McBearen." No idea if they are fast or not - the driver had a most unusual line and I believed I lapped him once or twice every session.
That was a pretty well prepped one in that picture above. Not sure I've seen a C5 one on track. The C6 is just a scary beast. Not a car I'd ever want to own but what a monster. I did get a point by from an Elise though.

We were honored to have the car at our event, was a beautiful piece of engineering and workmanship (did pretty good on track too for it's maiden voyage!)

Here's a link to a forum post with a good history of the car. The car still went through some changes since these pics (mostly safety stuff). http://forums.finalgear.com/general-...replica-19391/
