Anybody ever run Penske 8760's?
Had a set custom built for my 240Z. But the discussion of these shocks will just create confusion in this thread.

Even with the Koni's revalved, you run smack into issues with insuffecient mid and high speed compression damping because of their twin tube contruction. Not so much a issue for BSP, where your not likely to get into mid and high speed chassis events. In time trials, you will. Monotube 2812's exist for this very reason, though are too costly to recommend here.

IMO, only way I would do the T2 spring is with Bilstien HD's that you have revalved. I would not automatically send them to Bilstein so much as I would find a local shop that is willing to let you point to elements on the shock dyno that you wish to change.
I've seen you allude to this before. Have you ever run in a T2 car on a race track with konis?? They're winning races! Racers on this forum have sung their praises as well. Sure you can spend more money on a set of JRZ's but never once have I come in from a stint on track and tought to myself, I wish I had more high speed compression. I couldn't be happier with my truechoice koni's (and yes, I've got some trophies to show for it too).

Too add to this thread, all of my points have gone to suspension and tires. Suspension alone dropped me over 4 seconds over stock. Playing with power mods on our engines is a waste of points in my opinion. Nissan didn't leave too much on the table when it comes to low point power mods. Say you are able to get 15lbs of torque, that won't net you much decrease in lap time for the points you will have to take.

Dave, why are posting as if we have never exchanged pm's on the subject? I know full well where you stand on the subject and while I might not out right say it, I have alway's respected your imput and opinion, still do. Heck to a certain extent I'm counting on your solid opinion on the product when I resell mine. Please understand that I have discussed the issues with many more people then just yourself. I am not going to take a loss on a suspension in resale without cause, the how and why you and I already discussed. So, out of respect for the OP that discussion will not happen here, it will be something i I will be happy to get into when I post shock dyno's. Still waiting for my shop to get the adaptor's to be able to dyno 350Z shocks. At that point, feel free to bring up as many varied points as you want, I have nothing further to say until that point. Until then we can agree to disagree, nother more nothing less.

GSedan, I know we've exchanged emails about this, and I do somewhat agree with your logic. I just wanted to counter your point here since you are recommending against konis for a TT car which I have had great success with. Your post comes across as saying that they will handle sub-par and that's just not the case.

As an FYI, the shock points in TT are calculated such that any shock less than $600 per unit cost you less modification points. While a koni shock isn't the best shock available, for the points, and the interest in staying in TTC, they're a great compromise.

Just a friendly discussion Keep us posted on your progress with your new setup.

Daveh-just returning from Thunderhill with a 2nd and 1st place finish..

FWIW I wasn't racing, just at a DE, but my "Phase 4" Truechoice Konis on a car w/ 275 Pilot Sport Cups (aka not something stickier like Hoosier R6s, Kumhos or BFG R1s) was turning 1:17s at a NORPCA DE with traffic. As a point of reference my instructor was running 1:15.9s in a 500hp Cobra replica (and he's been driving Nelson since 1976). So yeah, they work DAMN well - bumpy track and all...
