First ever NASA event!
Hey guys,
I just registered my car for a Hyperdrive which are sessions during hyperfest at summit point where instructors ride along with you and give you pointers on how to drive your car hard and fast. This will be my first time at a non-drag track and I wanted to know what are some of the necessary preparations before an event like this(if any). I am not heavily modified and I am doing this 1. to learn how to drive better at speed and 2. to have some fun.

Holy Cow the site is sllloooooooooow today
Main things (really only things if it's your first time on a road course):
Good luck, and have fun!
Main things (really only things if it's your first time on a road course):
- Have the tech done at a shop that will put it up on a lift, make sure all the moving bits are attached properly
- Make sure you've got some tread left on the tires, no nails or screws or anything like that
- Have your oil changed
- Have your brake fluid bled out completely and replaced with fresh fluid. No need at this point for anything exotic if it's just hyperdrive (what is it 1 30min session? 2?)
- Make sure you have plenty of brake pad and/or a back-up set of front AND rear pads. Again, no need yet for anything exotic.
- Make sure you go into it with an open mind and a willingness to listen to the instructor and do whatever he or she says
Good luck, and have fun!

Thanks for the input. I know its only 2 short sessions, shouldnt be too much longer than 15-30 mins i would guess. is a track session that short really that hard on your brakes that you would need a back up set or is that only in the event that you dont have much material left on your existing pads?

IT is not a full HPDE, so you don't need a lot. You might go to www.speedventures.com and check out their form/checklist of things to bring to an HPDE, then pare back as you realize that you don't need as much.
Stock pads will not last more than three/four laps on a full track when driven "hard". You won't be anywhere near that, so as Stacy says, don't worry about it. Just listen to the instructor and plan to concentrate on four things.
1. Identifying the apex of each corner properly
2. Following the proper race driving line
3. Identifying the proper brake inception point
4. Identifying the proper corner turn in point
That will probably be more than a full challenge to handle in two sessions.
And it will be a blast.
Have fun, good luck.
