Default Hawk DT-70/60 Race Pads

I took my car to Sebring today for some lapping and used the DT-70 pads with my StopTech ST-40's on the front and the DT-60's on the rear with my OEM Brembo calipers and StopTech Aerorotors.

Once these pads get hot the bite is amazing. I went out for approx 5 20 minute sessions and they took a a beating and gripped tenaciously. They were very rotor friendly. I am sold on these pads. They are expensive, but well worth the price in my opinion.

Is the brake dust corrosive on these?

I know the other Hawk race pads leave dust that is very hard to get off and will rust when it gets wet.

That's why you clean the car after the DE MOST track pads are just horrible for paint/finishes from what I've seen ...

I'm debating using my DTC70/60 setup at the Glen in July or sticking with the Ferodo DS3000s (I have a TON of them and really like them... but the glen is a FAST track). How do the compare to, say, the HT10 vs the Blue / 9012? I would say the DS3000 sits in between, this probably comparable?

You cant clean it if it wont come off.

I've never had any issues with the Raybestos pads. It comes off like normal brake dust. I've just heard alot of Hawk users complaining about the dust on their rims and rocker panel.

Since you've used them both, how would you compare them to the Raybestos family (st 41 / st 43)?
Feedback I've gathered is that the raybestos last a bit longer.

I just used the Raybestos pads for the first time - at an autocross. No real comment. I "should" be at Willow Springs late July and will have a base to compare the 41s to the DTC70s.

I've had mine for over a year, (st 41's) and I got them used.

I have a Stopteck 14" BBK at all for corners and I run the same set up. My DT-70's allow my z to outbreak most cars out there. No dust or cleaning issues at all. They are bad *** at speed. I run Willowsprings and Cal speedway Roval all the time with them. I wouldn't run anything else.

What tires you guys running? I ran the DTC 70's at my last track day and noticed the ABS was kicking on every corner. I was still on "street" tires, BFG KDW's, but assume its less violent with some good r-comps.

I am running Toyo Proxes R888 R compounds. 275 fronts. 355mm rotors. Massive braking capability. Usually braking like this is reserved for military use only!

I used to run BF Goodrich G-force KD's and now run Falken RT-615's. I have not found better tire that you can use to drive to the track, run on them all day and then drive home on them.

try the Toyo R888's. Some folks use them as their daily driven tire.... Tread wear of 100, and actually has some groves to channel out water. Wouldn't want to use them when it is actually raining hard, but they should be okay in light rain. great grip on the track, and if they are anything like the RA-1's they replaced, you can run them with the same traction until they are corded.

Yeah I daily drive my R888's in FL and it rains here damn near every day. They are great in ligh to moderate rain. In heavy rain I slow way the hell down. The more standing water the worse they are. The softer the tire compound the better they are in the rain as long as they are in contact with the road.

Thats perhaps a bit braver, or more baller than I am willing. With the treadwear of 100, I only use them for the track, but as you say, it is certainly possible to use them as daily drivers.

Interesting - my rears are about gone... might have to consider these as a replacement when the time comes. My Z is my DD and only have 1 set of rims... maybe pick up another cheap set somewhere and put the R comps on there.

I wouldn't run them rear-only, the different heat range will really throw things off ...

I'd do all 4 and just keep the 1/2 used KDW's for a rainy day ... but that would be interesting on the track with rear only hahaha
