My first Autox..tips?
So i am going to register for a local autox event around here and its my first time :-) i am kinda excited. i was wondering if any one has any tips/ things i should know so i don't look like a moron. anything will be helpful...right now i have a 03 enth with new Potenza RE960AS Pole Position tires. and a new set of pads and slotted rotors. I am trying to learn the car before i do any serious modding to it. thanks for any input in advance!
a. Ride-along and ask for a ride-along. An experienced racer will let you ride along as a passenger. Also pick up an experienced racer for your passenger seat.
b. Walk the course. If course maps are not available, draw one while walking. I have had 4 run days were 3 where off course because of some mind boggling unconventional turns.
c. Try not to run over any timing equipment. Clubs kind of frown on that.

bring an assault rifle and take everyones wallet.
just follow the crowd, they should have a novice walk through to teach ya the course and what the different cone arrangements mean.

C is a very big one. I once watched a yellow EVO VIII go sideways through the finish line and take out the timing equipment for the rest of the day.
I think the advice is good. I think after you do an AutoX you should find an HPDE to register for. I'd wager it will be the last AutoX you ever do (but a great first step).
I'd get a year of seat time in before you think about any mods. If you decide to keep doing the parking lot racing you should understand classification so you aren't throwing money down the tubes to put you in a class you could never win, even if you were black and your last name was Hamilton.
Have fun! Be safe!

most important thing to remember is to relax and have fun :P take it easy first couple runs through, and concentrate on being as smooth (throttle and steering mostly, using the brakes tends to be violent) as possible.
