Default Track upgrades for G35 ?

Haven't been around here for a long time!

Trying to find some information about what's possible and what are the limitation of a G35 vs a 350Z for track application (hpde - road course). Searching wasn't exactly productive...

Basically, the mods I'd like to apply to a G would be the same I had on my former Z.

How wide a tire can the G wear? Would my old set of 5Zigen FN01R-C 17x10 +35 fit in the rear ?

Dave just converted from his 350z to a G35 and runs occasionally with NASA. He is very fast. He would be a great source.

Yup, it certainly will. I had +35s over the Brembos in the rear. Good thing you didn't sell that set to me! Stock vs. stock, the G rolls a lot more, so pony up for some suspension pieces if you want to do HPDEs often.

Lol!

A good thing yes!

Thanks for the rapid replies guys!

The 17in wheels would be for the track only. Looks are secondary to tire cost!

Absolutely agreed! Man I miss that G35 and its versatility. . .

The G35 and 350Z are pretty much the same as far as wheel fitment goes. The BC Racing G35 runs on the same size wheels/tires as the Double Down Motorsports 350Z which is a 295/315 stagger.

The G35 is a bit heavier so ideal spring rates will be a little different, and the longer wheelbase makes it more stable and easy to drive on track. I would definitely invest in a front STB though. That makes a huge difference on the G.

Can you please remind me of the wheel sizes and offsets for both race set-ups with the 295/315 combo? That, and if you know if fender rolling was necessary. My 305 rears fit pretty easily w/o any fender mods, so I don't see the 315 being much of a stretch, however, my 275 fronts are tight, so am curious about the 295 fronts on the race cars. Thanks.

The wheels are 18"x 9.5" front, 18" x 10.5" rear. I forget the offests, but there is only one option for Axis Reverbs in those sizes. I think its +35 rear +27 front. We have rolled fenders and a fair amount of negative camber and have no rubbing issues. In fact, we run a 5mm spacer on the rears as well with no issues.

so a 17x10.5 + 27mm out back will allow for a 315/35-17 out back and a 295/35-17 up front ya think?

If the overall diameter is the same then it should work. Don't quote me on that though as everything is so close to not fitting when you run that wide of tire that even the smallest change can rub on something. It even comes down to the actual tire brand as some tires that read 315 are wider than others that read 315 .

Are you N/A or FI? Unless you are high horsepower and have the suspension and everything else, I probably wouldn't even go that wide. If I were N/A I would probably run a 285/305 at the widest, maybe even a 275/295.

I'm NA. kinda of planning on running 275/315 NT01's for now (if I switch to Hoosiers I may run 295/315). I run autox (fairly warm here so I shouldnt have problem getting heat into the rears).

Personally I think 275/315 is too big of a split for the Z. Also you may benefit more from a smaller rear if N/A. You may be able to get heat in them, but the weight and less rolling resistance of a smaller tire might benefit you more than the added rubber since you have less power to get those big things rolling coming out of a turn. I would honestly do 275/295, but you know your car and your driving style better than I do .

I know. its a big split, if they made 285/35's I'd do those all the way around but its hard getting the sizes I'm wanting without spending 1200 bucks on tires >.< still tossing around possibilities, 295/40-17 V710's, or 295/35-17 R6's are still possibilities.
