Default Anyone know the weight of stock seats?

I posted here rather than in "interiors" section because I bet fellow racers will have more usable knowlege here....

Does anyone know the weight for stock non-heated cloth 2005 (enthusiast package) manual seats with integral airbag, including bracket?

How about weight of some stock non-heated cloth non-airbag manual seats, with bracket?

I am looking at weight reduction, but frankly I find most race seats to be more of a pain in the a$$ (pun intended) than they are worth, since I do drive some pretty long roadtrips in my car. Wondering how much lighter a race set would be (some I can afford, none of those $2500 Carbon Kevlar badass units with 24k gold mounts...) over my current seats, and if a set of non-airbag seats might be a good compromise.

Anyone have any input?

Gracias,
Brian

IMO not worth it unless your car is sticky track.

OK cool, according to that thread my factory seat with airbag and slider is around 42lb, not as bad as I had expected.

Anyone know how much lighter the non-airbag seats are?

Looking for the same info, thanks for asking. I was looking at the Sparco EVO series, for a set. I sat in them and them are way more comfortable than the stock ones. I think long trips would be fine. The evo weighs 19 lbs. My seats are the heated leather ones, so I could definitely save some weight.

The stock cloth seats are pretty light. When I got my Cobra Sebring S seats, they were really light (~18-19 lbs). But, I needed sliders to get in and out of the car (I'm short). Those sliders weighed ~20 lbs, and in the end, there was probably no more than a 5lb difference.

That's what I suspected. Now I am wondering if I could save some weight while keeping usability by swapping to the non-airbag seats. Again, anyone know if they are much lighter? Don't know if they are worth buying a pair... if it is more than a few pounds, it may be worth it!

Thanks to everyone for the replies!

If you fore go the sliders, you'd save a lot more weight. If I was taller than, say 5'-9", and my car wasn't used by anyone else in the family, I'd get the seat w/o the sliders.

I doubt the side airbags are worth removing. Since you still spend a great deal of time in the car on public roads, and are prone to T-bone accidents, I'd recommend you leave those 2lb bags in there.

The problem w/this car is that it seems that to shave off weight, you have to take so many things out. All the little parts add up, but each little part has so much effort and big compromises associated w/it.

p-side seat for the track event as well.
