Looking forward to a good fight though! Azn, I'll be the tall goofy looking guy in the Silver RX8, and most likely with a beer in my hand...come say hi!
For sure! Except I hope you won't be holding that beer just before your run lol

Looks like you finally got a handle on the 8.
I tried videos a few weeks ago but got so distracted trying to make sure the camera was running I forgot how to drive. Although an in car camera on my last left side run would have been pretty sweet.
I found a few pics here.

With SCCA? Will be doing the SCCA NE Divisionals in August. Then MAYBE heading out to nationals in Sept.
Track Day on July 20, another track day August 28 and a few local auto-x in between. I pretty much do some sort of local event every weekend.

Yea SCCA. Looks like Glenn did well in his 350Z in BS. If he only had a Nismo Z. LOL.

I'm curious to know what surface Packwood is. The cars looked pretty even in times. Is the z getting that more developed or are course and surface conditions playing that big of a part in the z 'catching' up to the 8?

Smooth Blacktop. Glenn did awesome, I did okay, but too inconsistant and cone happy!

Saturday, I coned away my hero run, .2 seconds ahead of Glenn, and .2 seconds behind Heitkotter.

Sunday was cold as hell then started to rain. I was the 6th car out (1st BS car) and my tires didn't like being cold. Second run was in the rain, and third run was as it was drying. Without a co-driver I stood no chance on Sunday.

The surface is asphalt, using crushed rock for its aggregate.

The Z is still being developed, but a lot is the fact that I'm finally really learning how to drive the blasted thing! I was also on "new to me" Hoosiers (e.g. these were someone else's "take offs"), so I had to alter the car setup slightly for the differences between the Kumhos and Hoosiers, plus figure out the proper tire pressure (with some answers from first350 and others).

Ruff_Z did a great job (running my setup on his car with V710s), and shows that the car is far more capable than people have given it credit -- especially when in the hands of a good driver. All that is now needed is consistency on his part and he will be another VERY good driver!

Bryan is a really good driver (and is probably the best B Stock driver right now), and would be quick in pretty much anything. To even be within 0.5 second after two days is still pretty amazing to me.

Really makes me consider putting my car back to B-stock cuz I have absolutely no chance in BSP. Luckly there's a street tire group in my local region.

Nice driving guys!

Adam and Glenn, nice driving guys. It finally looks like the z is closing the gap. It should have a many years of development. If there's a year for the z to win it, its this year. Grippier surface and Isley isn't running BS this year...atleast thats the rumor. Lets just hope it stays dry.
I know the 8 is a very capable car, I drove Keith Scala's in a fun run this year and beat him by over a tenth. The z pulls harder out of corners, has equal mid corner grip, but can't turn in like the 8.
Now to find a way to Nebraska in 2mos....

Liam, just curious doesn't the Nismo Z turn in a little better than a standard Z?

I've only driven 2 other z's one a decently modded car that runs locally in SSM and another BS car. The BS car was completely stock and on 245. The steering was lighter, but it didnt' have the bite my car had.
I've never driven another set up BS 350z so I can't say.
If you're talking in general, the Nismo does have a better turn in. The thing that makes the rx8 better is the immediate camber it has and the ability to trail brake.
Once the z's suspension sets and its able to gain a little bit of negative camber, it holds just as well as the 8.

There is an ex Z driver registered in Toledo, does that count?

All kidding aside, the Z CAN get it done against the 8's. I've put together flyer runs and I know Glenn has as well that can hang with them, I just think it comes down to a numbers game. The 8's are very easy to drive, which allows you to focus on the course more and on the car less. Not sure about Glenn, but I found that my car/setup/style/whatever could produce two different reactions through the same corner driven seemingly the same way. It just became harder to place the car within inches of where I wanted, whereas with the 8 you can.

Now, away from an autocross course, you can keep the 8.....I drive my Z to and from work 54 miles a day, and if I didn't have a really good codrive offer in an 8, I would be campaigning my Z (with Mike?)

Just my $.02.... (can you tell I'm bored at work??)

Thanks guy. Time for me to work on being consistent and not so cone happy! I too feel that this year could be the year of the Z. I wish I would have set my car up sooner.

Around may-june this year is when I set my car up how Glenn had (off the shelf Koni Yellows, track wheels with 285/30 V710s) The V710s were mounted up last week and scrubbed in on friday. Prior to that, the only R-comps I had raced on were Road Race Hoosier R3S04 build date May 2004 somewhat used. So soft compound R-comps were new to me.

This weekend I am going to give it another shot, Glenn as well. We'll be running the pro-solo at Packwood. Bryan H stayed in town (the area) with Heiderpriem's RX8 so they will be back. Looking at the entry list, I think BS will be the toughest class at the Pro. Wish us luck!
