Default Pocono North Write Up, Some Pics

Went to Pocono North with CART last Friday.
Day started out very wet and raining. Rain stopped shortly before lunch. The track started drying which allowed us to get some good runs in. When it came time for time trials, fog rolled in which caused us to delay the start by 1.5hrs.
We finally ran the TT's. I bumped myself to BSP to have faster cars to run with. Loads of vettes there another Nismo, a time trial evo and some other quick cars. Driving in the wet taught me to be agreesive and patient all at the same time. I was able to drop .6 of a second since being here in May. With the time improvement I still wasn't able to win my class or take FTD.
A 320whp and coilovered Evo beat me for class win by .081 seconds and a 550whp Z06 took home FTD, beating me by 1 second.
I think I have about .6-.7 seconds left in the car.
Car has a Stillen catback and Hoosiers, thats it for mods.

Liam,

You have talent. I hate you can't make the SCCA Solo Nationals. I really think you would have a shot at BS in your Nismo Z.

Good job man!! Pocono north was my first track i ever ran in my integra Type R.. Ran the Z for the grand slam weekend 2 years ago. Gotta love the double infield!
How was the bump coming on to the straight? that bump sucks (didnt know if they fixed it, that track is very bumpy)

Mark I actually had some great vid, but I'm not technology savvy. In the process of uploading to my computer it somehow got deleted. Its sad because I had a great vid of me running down and harassing a C5 Z06.

Driver, the bump onto the straight isn't bad, I position my car so it straddles the water drain and almost have my right side tires on the grass. The bump getting into that corner is pretty bad, that hasn't been fixed yet.

Matt...brakes need to get bleed before circuits. Rotors and pads will be getting replaced this winter. HP+ pads are halfway done.

Pocono North was also my first track event. I remember when my brakes went out on me on the outer bank. I had a mustang at the time and thats when I said screw this I'm getting a Z.

Default Pix out of infield and onto bowl....

...remind me of where I wrecked my '99 Boxster back in 2000.

It never got grip and I pancaked the wall at speed. Half shaft cracked the trans casing and steering box was destroyed.

...but insurance paid the $25 grand bill and I was ok save for sore ribs from the side airbag.

Went back to Pocono 2 years later with another Boxster and all was fine.

Have yet to track my 350Z.
