Default Pocono North Video...sliding and going off

http://vimeo.com/6818745

Vid of me at Pocono North on Monday.
Afternoon session, in the rain, just having fun. On street tires. Purposely sliding it around. Went off at the end, had it gathered until I think the rear caught the curbing or grass and pulled the front around.
No damage fortunately.

hey, even the pros do it, especially in the rain.

Looks like a lot of fun though. Was there an SUV in front of you at one point or was that just a really tall hatch? Looked like it might have been an xB or something.

probably a mini cooper. the lens as you can see is really wide so it distorts the picture.
i'm actually happy i went off, first time I've ever done that.
there's pros and cons to going off in the rain. 1 speeds are slower, i was only doing about 95-100mph at that point (turn in for me in the rain was 110mph or there about)
2, wet grass won't unbeed a tire 3, sliding is much easier so you have a lot more sliding you can play with before she actualy goes
cons
wet grass is slipperier than pavement, wet grass won't stop you, you just go faster, you're more apt to go off in the rain

but all in all, it was fun. i learned more about the car.....she bites in still very very well in the rain. i can carry more speed than i thought. throttle application (as always) is key to being fast. but as you can see here, i was just having fun

Looks like a lot of fun ... and yes, driving/experimenting in the wet definitely has its advantages. That's why if anyone has the chance to run on a wet skid pad, DO IT.

..watch out for that wall coming onto the bowl. I creamed it with my '99 Boxster back in 2000 and the damage was $24,000. Insurance did cover it though!

Appears as though you just carried to much speed into the corner and then started the slide. Had you started the slide at turn in, or earlier you would've scrubbed enough to continue it through the second Apex. Granted that's just my Monday morning quarter back judgment.
