Autocrossed a Nismo 370 today!
And it was awesome!
It is now 2nd on my list of best-handling, showroom-stock cars. (Behind the Porsche Cayman S)
And this is out of a very long list of high-end vehicles I have driven on the track. (I'm an instructor -just to explain the long list, not trying to imply Mario Andretti driving skills)
With the traction control off, the car was virtually neutral, with predictable limits, and good power.
I was thoroughly impressed.

love autocross but my Z isnt ideal. front heavy with all the turbo stuff along with a longer 3.3 gears. i hardly get into boost at all. with a 3.5 2nd gear is money with the 3.3 i find myself needing to downshift into 1st which is no bueno. ah well still fun as all hell. might just start using my G37s instead for autocross, lulz.
its nice to hear the nismo 370z kicking **** after all the bad pub they received initially. they are sexy as all hell in person.

There's one near me(red) that I eye. He just upgraded his exhaust and the car is very loud and exotic. I work with a mustang guy and the sound made him turn his head. Looks great in person.

There needs to be a Nismo 350z in that group
From the articles I have read I couldn't see myself driving a Nismo 370z.
Unforunately I can't speak from experience yet. I have only seen one Nismo 370z at a local dealer and I never test drove it. I just had no appreciation for it... I feel they skimped out in to many areas with those Z's!
I was to caught up with the Redline GTR they had on the lot for a couple months. Debating whether or not I could justify buying that... I'm glad I didn't with the state of the economy, I would have been poor. I lost my commission and company vehicle use to and from the office unless oncall
All in all I am happy/content with my Z. No regrets.

^I'm actually missing the Miami Mile(milemarker-1.com) event Oct 10th b/c I got extended here in Afghanistan. I was just thinking of getting Nismo pads document what speeds, temps, and fade I was experiencing during the event and post them here. I'm actually looking at some Stoptech's if these dont work out well. I have the CZP kit which comes with: Akebono's(billet adapters), 14" slotted rotors, and SS lines so I have a feeling I may not have the same problems the Nismo accident car had. Not to mention I'm sure I'm not going to be all that fast... its my first try at this.

The instructors are pretty cool from my experience. They really let you get a feel for what's going on, then you can step it up from there.
So I can't comment on how they will hold up on a road course.
I can say that the description of the problem that put the magazine car into the wall sounded more like boiled brake fluid than hardware to me.
The June 2010 edition included a story called "CSI Virginia: The mysterious Z crash"
It's a follow-up investigation into the crash and while they found the stock brake pads lacking, it wasn't until they boiled the brake fluid in one of their (new) test cars that they experienced the same conditions as before the crash. (brake pedal went to the floor)
Not to rub it in, but.....I co-drove a beautifully prepped C6 Z-06 in SS today.
It was great, until it suffered from electrical problems on my third run.

Ironically, the first symptom was...... a complete loss of ABS.
In other news, the Nismo 370Z owner returned today and competed. He just might be hooked!
I love this sport.

Glad to see that you were able to control the loss of ABS. I bet that's annoying anyway.
)After eating the half-second or so, I decided to lengthen the brake zone at a point where I had to go from 65-ish to 20-ish for the turn around. (But it wasn't enough) That's when I learned the problem was more than just hot tires. I got almost two full seconds of screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! (and not slowing nearly quick enough) before I accepted the reality of the situation and backed off the brakes. This put me way off line.

When I got back to the pits, the car's owner noted that he had "no voltage". He thinks something is wrong with the charging system and will get it checked out this week.
We had to jump it for my last run. But after we got it started, we discovered the computer wouldn't let us disengage the electronic nannies.
I was just starting to feel kind of "cozy" with the car too.
Oh well.
