Default Looking for track near bay area CA

Hi,

I want to take my Z around the laps. I can't seem to locate any nearby racetracks in or close to the bay area san jose/san francisco area.

The closest one I found was Laguna Seca. Even that one is too far.
I did find some info about infenion raceway but I am not even sure how to get in on their track for some laptime.

Can someone please help me out locating tracks? Thanks.

Infineon is probably the closest track. From the city.. Infineon is about 45 minutes away, Laguna Seca is about 2hrs away, Thunderhill is about 2.5hrs away, Reno-Fernley is about 4.5hrs away and Buttonwillow is about 4hrs away.

NASA has an HPDE next weekend at Infineon (http://www.nasaproracing.com/event/1133).. they also have a Hyperdrive session which is basically 20 minutes out on the track with an instructor for $50 with coupon if you just wanted to get a taste of it.

I've done track days with Hooked on Driving (http://www.hookedondriving.com/) and NCRC (http://www.ncracing.org/) at Thunderhill and with Audi @ Infineon.. I still need to hit up Laguna sometime.

Don't let distance limit your choices. Racetracks are rare and you have to be willing to travel to get to them. I'm lucky in that I have one 50 miles away, but that didn't stop me from driving almost 800 miles to Sebring.

Give Trackpedia a look - it has lots of info on every track around the country...

You've got 8 road race tracks within a 8 hour drive. That's the best selection of any place in the country.

This is the correct answer. You live in the mecca for local tracks. If a 2 hour drive to Laguna Seca or Sears Point, arguably the most famous tracks in the US, you don't really want to track.

If this would be your first time lapping, however, I suggest starting off at Thunderhill (just over 2 hours away from SF), as it's a lot less risky since it's not a "spectator" track (i.e. very few walls).

If you are nearer San Jose, Laguna Seca is only 70 miles away.

^Yeah, they are all spot on... If you live in CA, North or South, there are a lot of great tracks to choose from. They will all require a little driving so "Man-up" and hit up some of the country's most iconic tracks.
