Default Forged Performance: Sep. 2011 CHIN Motorsports Coverage

Instead of spending our Monday morning on the dyno, in the shop or in the office a few of us at Forged Performance spent this past Monday morning at Road Atlanta. We were there to participate in the CHIN Motorsports Track Day which is always one of our favorite HPDE events because of the large amount of open track time and some of the best staff, instructors and attendees of any track event.

After a good dinner and plenty of rest at a local hotel Sunday night we arrived at the track bright and early. By 6:30am we were unloading the GT3 and GT-R off the trailer. Soon after one of our long term clients and friends rolled into the track with his Lexus LFA which always draws a crowd. After our tech inspections and drivers meeting were completed we made sure our own little spot of the paddock was set up with plenty of shade, chairs, drinks and snacks which is always welcome to anybody wanting to come hang out at the track

Sharif spent most of the day doing some private instructing with one of our customers on the track but still managed to take the the GT3 while setting a new personal best in that car: 131.8. For reference, that is nearly 4 seconds faster than the NASA track record for his class. Of course, he still made time to make some laps in the GT-R and even the LFA. Chin Motorsports events provide loads of wide open track which sure beats working on Monday!

One of my close personal media friends, Zak Kerbelis, who is one of the best automotive video guys out there right now was at the track and spent a lot of time getting footage of the Lexus LFA, on and off track. You may have seen some of his recent work with Falken Tire: ASD, the Road to Atlanta. He is in the middle of the post production of his video as I type this but I promise you want to keep your eyes pealed for that thread. It will be epic.

Forged Performance track events are always posted on the Forged Performance Facebook Fanpage so make sure to add us to your friend list. That will you can stay up to date on upcoming events such as: Porsche Club of America Track Event, CHIN Motorsports Track Event and ZNationals.

Hope you all enjoy the photos we capture from the event! If you don't see your car please check out the Forged Performance Flickr Page for additional photos.

I wonder why the majority of the W2W lap time records are so slow?

I didn't know Sharif started going W2W. Regardless, the car likely a TTS car....no? Generally GTS4 is quicker than T1 in SCCA (The record is in the 1:32 area). Still, 1:31 is movin'.

The GT3 is not setup for Time Attack, rather it's setup for W2W. I havent touched power adders aside from a cat delete. Just 317whp last check on our dyno.

TTS track record I believe is a 1:29 or there abouts, but I doubt my GTS-4 GT3 will ever see that....well...maybe...the cold of winter is coming.
