Default Weight reduction for AX in exhaust system

What do you guys think of using Fast Intentions cat back system in carbonfiber? The Carbon fiber system weighs 7 lbs less than their steel unit. Total of 41 lbs for full cat back system. Thats a fairly substaintail weight reduction from Stock.

I just have never used a Carbonfiber exhaust. Are there any down sides to CF aside from cost? My car isnt overly slammed so low risk of hitting anything. I just have no expereince with CF. How do CF mufflers hold up?

41lbs is still insanely heavy for a cat back. You can just have a y-pipe to single muffller wtih a turn down behind the seat, as long as you can get under 100db. I can't imagine a set-up like that weighing more than 10-12lbs total. My turboxs is only about 30 with a resonator.

Yeah but I dont want ghetto setup. I want something that is under 93 db and still has dual outlets. I have plenty of events where I have to be under 93. Remeber I live in Cali. Usually takes some heft to be quiet. Is there something that is light and quite that fits on stock hangers and dosnt look too "garage shop" fabbed?

hmmm....

My guess is 93db with test-pipes on any exhaust might be tough....I'm speculating there.

Cant speak to a car exhaust made from C/F, but I've seen motorcycle exhaust canisters made from C/F. After a while the weave gets crispy and yellow and starts deteriorating. Is seven pounds really that much of an issue? You'll have that on you after all of the holiday dinner's coming up.........

I'm using high flow cats and stock nismo is under 88 currently! Worse case I can be at 95 but no higher.

Thanks this is the kind of feedback I want. I have 0 expereince with CF mufflers. But weight reduction on cars is all about 7 lbs here and 7 lbs there. It all adds up.

Some people might think going to 9 lb battery is crazy but I drive around on street with a jumper battery just in case.

Street going AX cars are a funning thing. Sometimes you go less than ideal so you run 50 lbs less than guys who are being practical.

And if you saw me you would know I need as much car weight loss as possible just so I'm even with people who dont weigh 275 lbs. LOL!

Just buy a single exhaust that offers a removable baffle. Simple, easy and light.

.049 wall 3" OD 304L stainless single exhaust with a 24" long Coast Fab muffler. Probably 12 lbs. total with hangers. I did one for an SM BMW M3 that runs in San Diego and it passes sound just fine.

Yeah figured i'd have to go custom fab route. Was just hoping there was something that was bolt on. Thanks for muffler tip.
