Default What R Compounds to put on stock 17s?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place (maybe AutoX) but i just got a set of G35 18s that i'm going to use on the car for daily use. I wanna make my stock 17s dedicated track wheels because they're already worn and used. The G35 wheels are newer (one of which is brand new). What sizes and brands should i be looking at to put on the stock 17s?

Thanks!

245/40/17 Hoosiers, RS3, or Kumho V710

First question I would ask is "what are these for?"

If it is for basic track days and you have plenty of time on R-compounds or DOT-R's then yes the Hoosiers or Kumho. if not then I would recomend Starspecs, Toyo RA1's, or Nittos.

If it is for actual competition, then I would read the rules and see what is allowed, what could pay tire money, and what the winners are running.

It would be for autoX'ing. I have a good amount of seat time, and only one day on DOT-Rs. I'm also sprayed (as of very recently) and will hit the drag strip next summer. So i'd like some super stickies for next season to put on my old stockers.

Scotts300, would that be square tire setup? The stock 17s are staggered.

Thanks guys, always really helpful in the AutoX section...

EDIT: The RA1s dont come in the above stated sizes? they are 255/40ZR17 and 235/55ZR17. Would a pair of each work for F & R?

All the stock set-ups are staggered, but I highly recommend a square set-up for autox. No spray, of course, for autox.

Yeah i know, I want the spray for drag racing and I was looking for a tire with a happy medium between drag and autoX. I know of alot of guys that drag race on street tires so I figure I could drag on AutoX tires because they're better than street regardless.

The RA1s don't come in the 245/40 size so i should check them off the list because squared is what i'm looking for?

the 255/40's all around would be a good setup.

There is a lot of information in the tire thread, with reviews:
