Have the rear back stays and first diagonal done. The rear back stays are not ideal but it was a compromise for my pushed back hoop design. Still complies with the 6" from top rule.
Broke my notcher, dumb mistake, taking a break till I get a new auger.

All the tubes are tacked into place for the rear half cage. Pretty happy with the final result. Can be a great base for a full cage in the future. Right now, this is perfect for me.

Definitely a different design than I usually see, but I've enjoyed reading the progress on your build. Good on ya.

Will be cutting out the entire mid-section sheet metal soon, any tribulations you encountered while cutting or was it pretty straight forward?

Just make sure you have a few extra spot weld hole saws on hand. You might poke through both layers of steel by accident, the first few attempts at it.

Good to know. What size hole saw did you use mostly? I'm guessing ~.5"? Hopefully I can find small hole saws that aren't part of a 13-piece set... Lol

Epic, thanks man; I have a HF 2 miles away from my place that I frequent.. Was actually the first place I was going to check.

Good luck with the rest of your build

Have some good updates! Got the cage spray painted, do you like the color? Was trying to keep it classy.

Different design from what I've seen before, but looks good!
Hopefully it will not impact too much on rear-view vision. Our cars already suck in that regard!!!!

Ive tested the seats a few times, the only bar restricting vision more than normal is the main hoop at the headliner.

Looks good, not a fan of the bends in the main hoop. Wish I could work on my car.

I didnt want to put the bar close to the seats, for the type of events ill be using the car for, I felt it would be more safe to have the bar back behind the driver rather than on the floor wrapped around the seats as normally done. It definitely was a compromise, but there is alot of bracing as well.

Been nice here been able to test drive the car some.

Guys, having an issue with the fuel level gauge. I drained the tank completely when I started the cage build.

Put in 6 gallons, the pump clicked, level shows empty. Opened up both fuel tank hatches. Drivers side was empty and the fuel pump / pass side was half full.
Drivers side sender works, I moved it by hand the gauge works correctly.

Driving around didnt help at all. Trying to make to slosh back and fourth did nothing.

Why is fuel not going into the whole tank? Confused?

Managed to put in 13 gallons this AM. Gauge reads half. Should be close to full now, so something is happening.

Either a bad fuel-gauge sending unit or the little metal arm/floater attached to the fuel basket sending unit got bent up.
