2007 Enthusiast. 80k miles. Do about 4 or 5 track events a year. DE-4 level. Daily driver. LSD fluid has never been changed. Noticing a little bit of a whine back there. Could be a wheel bearing but figured I change fluid in the diff since it has never been changed as far as I know.

Question: Is there any advantage at all to be gained from using an after market fluid vs. OEM? If so, any recommendations? (Again, it is the OEM viscous LSD.) Thanks.

 

Redline shockproof has been known to quiet noisy gears. And being a viscous it does not require the limited slip additive that clutch types require, won't hurt anything but not needed.

I have Castrol hypoy c gear oil in there right now. It was on sale... No complaints.

Diff usues specific type gl-5 recommend. Differential API GL-5, Viscosity SAE 80W-90
