Default Brake pads compound - track only with Akebono calipers ?

Hi guys,

My 2003 350Z is a track car only and i'm about the redo my brake setup. I'm running Hawks Blue (front and rear) with the akebono calipers. Doesnt really like my combo, not bad, but not great either...

So, i'm thinking of XP12/XP10 or DTC-70/DTC-60 for next season but i'm not sure if its to much for a 3200 LBS car (with me). I'm always running Nitto NT-01, Hoosier R6 or i might try some RS-3 for short lapping session.

Doesnt any of you have tried the Akebono and XP12/10 combo on a 350Z ?

I'm pushing around 270 whp right now BTW.

Thanks,

Martin

I run the XP12 on my stoptechs. Its a great pad but it needs heat. you can feel the friction really ramp up on long braking zones. I have them paired with Ferodo DS2500 rears so I cant say how they would pair with XP10's

I run XP12/10 combo and I am only 2400 lbs. Yes, they have to get up to temp, but they are great once they do. Plus they last well for track pad.

I completely understand. I mainly posted the link so we can keep all the brake pads discussions in one place to make them easier to find.
