URGENT: Spring rates for Nordschleife: 1300-1350kg car weight
Guys, I need to know this ASAP. I'm getting STANCE SuperSports with stiffer SWIFT spring but I don't exactly know how stiff I should go. Stock rates are 12Kg/200mm front and 8Kg/175mm rear.
Any advice?
Set up will be Enkei 9,5 / 10,5 + semislicks (Toyo R888), Hotchkis swaybars, camber kit, Brembo brakes with Centric HC rotos, XP10 race pads

True coilover rear or are these oem style with shock and spring in the oem bucket?
Just an FYI:
You would have likely been better off with a KW v1 or v2 or the original idea of koni yellows with springs.

Too late. It's these:

Are the oem style ones much worse? What's the difference?

Unsprung weight difference. The performance difference will be marginal if at all for these coilovers between true and oem style.
On a true coilover I would probably run 14kg fronts with 6kg rears. I might even think of going 4 or 5kg rears...
Or since you haven't given them the spring rates yet, cancel your order and get something else.

Stance internals are just not that high of a quality.
Heres the deal, I bought into the hype of stance a while back on my V8 FD3S RX7, instead of going with my go to known good companies. I got a set of pro comp 3's, top of the line, supposed custom valving, custom spring rates, external reservoirs, all of it. They were pretty as hell, shiny, cool *** resevoirs.... and then I drove em, They handled like a set of entry level coilovers. The 15 clicks of adjustment in each range really only had any difference every third click. It was frustrating as hell and I don't want someone else to go through that.
This was 5 days after I finished building the car. you can see the car jacking in some of the corners, it made for a not so confident drive. The howling was differential #1 eating itself.
I was able to get that rx7 to do a 7:58 BTG on a set of Koni's later on in the year.

You are using semislicks so you can have a bit more spring up front. Since you are moving to a true coilover in the rear you are going to want to go with a lighter spring. There is some magic math to equate what the rate would be if it was OEM style but it roughly comes out to be a 12kg equivalent.
If they are recommending you to go above 9kg out back, they don't know what they are talking about. Their product is junk, too, but I digress. Case in point, I run 20/8 on my race car and that is on full slicks.
Problems with reading, eh? No one recommended going above 9, they just did not recommend going as low as 6 for a not fully weight reduced Z.
Anyway, 14/9 on a bumpy track like Nord should be ok with semislicks. I need to learn the car first before deciding if springs need to be stiffer/softer so I figured this would be a good start.

As it is, you will learn nothing on 14/9 and stance level dampers. The car will be a nightmare with that much rear spring and shocks incapable of anything.
Having probably run more spring/shock combos then anyone on this site....I could make a better recommendation, but why would you take it from someone with reading comprehension issues

14/9 sounds like a good drift setup. The car is going to be real tail happy and impossible to get power down out of a corner.
Was is the guys at Stance hat recommended this crap?

If that is a true coilover rear he is going to have a 371.1 F/ 504 R wheel rate with those selected springs... Honestly it sounds like they confused OEM vs true coilover spring rates... That setup is going to be wicked loose in the rear.
@03threefiftyz, read the whole thing will you. low was referring to 6kg.
@terrasmak, yes, Adam was on the phone with them while we chatted:
Me:
14kg front, 6kg rear - I was told that would be perfect for Nurburgring with my set up

they are not recommending 6 in the back
Me:
why?

It would be too soft for the motion ration of the Z
on their race car 350z they run 16k/10k
they recommed 14/9 for a full weight car
Me:
what about weight reduced to 1350kg? I'm planning to do that

im on hold there on the phone
Me:
ok

14/9 we can do on swifts for you, that is what they recommend
PS. Yes, true coilover at the rear. At least that's what Adam confirmed to me.

I run a true set up and have 16/7 on basically a full weight G. When I ran street tires I was running 14/7 and changed the front when I went to a semi slick. I think you'll be pretty loose with your 14/9 set up so be prepared. I tried several spring rates in the rear that were higher and had to go lower before I got rid of the oversteer.

04.5? What do you mean mate?
I'd rather have the antiroll bar installed so if I need softer rear springs, I'll sell these and get softer ones for rear and maybe stiffer ones for front.
I just don't understand why there is such a discrepancy between what Adam and Stance recommended and what experienced guys like yourselves are saying? Maybe they got something wrong.
