Default Engine (HR) still overheating even with oil cooler!

Guys, I have a vented hood and a 26 raw cooler installed but the engine is still overheating when driving on a track in hot days (25-30 degree Celsius). As you can see in the clip below, the idle on the temp. gauge goes up significantly at the 6th minute. Driving like this is not gonna be good for the engine in the long term.

What do you think I should do now so the oil temperature does not exceed 125 degrees Celsius at any time:
- install an even bigger oil cooler or a second one but that would further limit the amount of air getting to the water cooler
- move the oil cooler more to the left and allow more air to get to the water cooler, I would probably need some vents in the bumper
- replace the water cooler with a bigger one?
- install a bigger/better fan or more fans even on the oil cooler
- any other options?

if it is overheating i would say the issue is the cooling system, dont think the oil cooler has anything to do with it. radiator could be all clogged up, have you done a flush and fill on it

Yes I exchanged the fluid a few weeks ago. Maybe the radiator is old and not that efficient any more? I am thinking about adding a fan at the back of the oil cooler now.

these systems are notorious for having issues getting all the air pockets out. it could be that or it is all gunked up inside.

The oil temp and water temp are separate systems. Yes they have some effect on one another, but if you are overheating the coolant you need to address the cooling system.

Install a larger radiator. As stated make 100% sure there is no air in your coolant.

How do I check if there is air in those systems (both water system and oil system because of the cooler extension)? How do I get it out, can I do in on a track if I ever need to or should it be enough if I do it between events?

Oil does not need to be done, its self bleeding.

check out the bottom, filling section

Once you do it correctly, you should not have to do it again.

Invest in a better radiator. I did was totally worth it. When you remove the radiator you'll see just how flimsy it really is.

my guess is you have air bubbles in your cooling system. Changing your coolant wont necessarily expunge those air bubbles. google on how to bleed your coolant system.

the oil cooler would help more if you were burning oil. I have a 25 row setrab installed and it helped to reduce the amount of oil burned on track days.

Do all the cooling mods you can. I had good luck with the lisle "burp" system spill free funnel.

Z1 also has a release valve? Anyone use this?

Thanks guys. I'll start with bleeding the system and installing an oil temp sensor to keep an eye on things.
If that doesn't work I'll add a fan to the oil cooler. If that doesn't work I'll change the radiator to a bigger one.

Is it easy to install the oil temp sensor? Is it possible to use one of the three displays on the dashboard for that?

Adding a fan will not help you reduce oil temps. A fan will slow down the airflow through the oil cooler. Good ducting and a direct air path are best. Lower Oil temps will not bring down coolant temps if you are having overheating issues.

I don't get why lower oil temperature would not also lower the water temperature? Which is the root cause and which is the symptom of the engine overheating issues in this car? (airlock aside). I want to eliminate the root cause and not just address the symptom.

They are separate systems. Water keeps the engine cool. Oil lubricates the engine. Both have their ideal operating temperatures.

Yeah but the moving engine parts give their heat away to oil, so if oil is cooler, will this not "make work easier" for the water cooling system?

Check your specific engine oil to see what its optimum heat range is. Normally you want engine oil to be around 10 degrees hotter than coolant temp although there are some race oils that dont even start to lubricate properly until about 350 F.

If you cool your oil off too much, its actually damaging to the motor friction surfaces.

If you are overheating, get a radiator.
