As someone who had a car catch on fire.....I care very little of the opinion of others about wearing a fire suit in DE/TT format. All the gear, all the time for me.

I would think an automatic fire suppression system and a fuel cell would be important too.

Duno man, looks like your fishing for someone to agree with you at this point. HANS works. If it saves your *** its paid for itself 100x over.

Agree with me about what? I said I was getting a HANS.

Are you going to get an automatic fire suppression system, because as you say:

If it saves your *** its paid for itself 100x over.
I'm just picking, but you see my point?

Anyway, I've gotten good advice here and I'm going to follow it.

I'll post pics when its done. Harness and hardware arrived today. I'm going to have to order some of the Schroth bendable two bar brackets for the sub belts to get them to fit properly.

Would like to get under the car today to plan out where to drill holes but I don't have a garage and its to dang hot to work in the driveway.

Update: Roll bar is in. The guy did nice work. Unfortunately rear visibility is decreased by the main hoop. I posted about that elsewhere. I got most of the interior trim back in as well. Had to cut some of it to make it fit. Could not get panels around the triangle windows back in. No big deal.

The main reason I put it all back in was to get it out of my basement. ;-)

Race seat and 6 point cam-lock harness are in.

After doing a LOT of research I bought a NecksGen Rev 2 Lite for head and neck support. Very happy with it so far but have not been on track with it yet. It limits head movement a pretty good bit in terms of leaning forward but also a little bit turning side to side but there is enough movement to see the side mirrors which is all I need.

I will have to remember that once I am strapped in I cannot close the door so I'll have to close the door and then tighten the harness.

Post pics

I don’t even think I can see my hoop in the mirror, just my diagonal bar.

I'll try to get some pics. The whole problem is that I am 6'4" and have to have the seat all the way back. That's why I had to get a custom bar. It had to be in a very specific spot to be far back enough and high enough (just barely) for me to fit and for it to provide actual protection. He put it right where I asked him too but it cuts across the top of my rear view field. I was thinking maybe the main hoop could be curved to fit the contour of the roof line but it goes straight across.

It is a compromise but so far that's the only negative. I got a suction cup rear view mirror today and will probably remove the OEM on as a temporary fix. I can put the suction cup one lower down and probably solve the problem. If that works, I'll reposition the OEM one to lower down.
