Default Finally got my 350 to the track - Laguna Seca

My Z has sat on the backburner for awhile. But I was finally able to get it to a track day out at Laguna Seca. Overall I was happy with how the day went. I would say the biggest disappointment was the brake pads. I have the 370 Sport upgrade on the car but chose to the run the EBC NDX pad. The pads just didn't seem to have sufficient stopping power. It didn't take long in a 20 minute session before my braking points had to be backed up. I lacked confidence in their ability to perform. Granted I don't run brake coolers on the car but I don't think that was the problem.

The weather was good as is typical with Laguna Seca. The car was fun to drive. This was with the Speed Ventures track group. I look forward to doing more track days in the Z and continue to develop the car. For anyone interested the car has Megan coilovers, 370z Sport Brakes, Z1 upper control arms, Eibach sway bars, and a ISR Catback. The best time in the video was a 1:43.9.

Looks great! Dream track for sure. EBC are junk for any compound

Nice- glad you got the Z out for into its natural environment. As for your feedback on the brakes, it's been years since I tried any of the EBC compounds, but IMHO they weren't very good for racing. Better luck next time, and hope you continue taking it to the track!

Man, that track is on my bucket list. I am heading to Mid Ohio next week for another bucket list track.

I really think the brakes are a weak point on the Z. Event he Brembos. I can't seem to get a solid pedal on the first push. I'm always double pumping!

I am running the Carbotech XP12 front and XP8 rear. Last season I was 10 front , 8 rear... but wanted more stopping power. ONLY reason why I didn't change the rear pads is because they have many track days left in them.

All your gear mandatory or for personal safety?

Details on your camera setup?

Mid-Ohio is an awesome track! I did the Mid-Ohio race school for my NASA Comp License. Before I head back to the track it will certainly get better brakes. My camera setup is just a GoPro 6 on a rollbar mount.

The only safety equipment required by the organizer was a helmet. All the additional stuff is for my safety and comfort. I have a 6 point harness, a race tech seat, and a welded in 4 point rollbar.

I love the little wiggle (twice) at the deceivingly difficult T6. I've seen plenty of cars go off there both from the track - way back when, when that was T4 (no infield T3 or T4) - and from the spectator side more recently. Even more offs there than at the top of 8/8A or the ever crowded T2. Great vid, thanks for shairing!!
