Alright, just got back from VIR, it was a blast weekend. Cold and windy but great driving conditions. The groups were packed, instructor group had 50+ cars in it so a lot of traffic, hard to get clean laps in. Managed to get a few in on Sunday afternoon, set new personal best of 2:12.5 down from 2:18 a year ago, so the car setup if definitely getting there. Here are the fast laps, please excuse my horrendous shifting around the oak tree, kept getting 6th instead of 4th

And a couple videos running thru traffic

I was sharing my car with a buddy, so the car did double duty, at least 6 sessions each day and no issues at all. Here's my buddy driving in the black group:

Have you looked into Time attack/time trials?
SCCA runs time trial events and they are some of the most laid back events. Def competitive if you want to build towards it, but the atmosphere is laid back if you want to just churn some good laps in and hang. I see a good bit of folks (a generation or 2 older than me) that have a blast out there.

In 2020 I was running bfgoodrich slicks, this year they are Michelin slicks. The bfgs were cycyled out, so by comparison the michelins are a lot grippier.

I'll be at Summit in March. I might be at VIR in April, I haven't decided yet, Depends on if and when I receive the aero bits I ordered last summer.

cool, how have those wheels held up? I looked at those due to how cheap they are, im debating on them or the Enkei PF05.

I've got no complaints, I've got two sets of them now and they are holding up quite well. I'm sure there are lighter wheels out there, but for the price these are not bad at all.

nice, i agree, the enkei's are lighter but double the price for a few pounds of weight savings...not sure its worth it.

That's a conversation between you and your wallet 😜 but mine told me to spend money on better tires instead, much better return on investment

i totally agree, running those ill need to upgrade the suspension to adjust camber from stock so I will def. go that route to spend the money on SPL stuff!

Finally pulled my car from storage to start prepping it for March event at Summit. First chance to examine wearables after double duty at VIR in November. Brake pad wear is excellent as always, brand new front pads still look new, rear pads that have been on there forever still have plenty of meat left. Tire wear looks excellent as well, still plenty of rubber left on the Michelin slicks. Also, the weird rubber buildup that was plaguing the previous slicks in mostly gone. The wear is even on all tires except the front right, which still exhibits more buildup on the inside third of the tire. But that being an inside tire on a clockwise VIR track it's pretty much expected. If I reduce camber anymore I'll lose front grip, and the only other solution would be to do different camber on the inside tire than the outside tire but then I'd have to change it depending on the track, which is just not worth it. Bottom line is that the kind of buildup that cause massive vibrations is no longer there and that's good enough for me.

I'll be flushing all the fluids next week, but that's pretty much all the maintenance the car needs right now. As for the aero I ordered last August, it still haven't arrived almost 7 months later, so I doubt it'll be here in time for the next event. I'm trying to be patient but considering I was told up to 12 weeks when I ordered, this is getting a bit ridiculous.

So our Summit event got cancelled due to snow last weekend. Summit informed us on Friday that they decided to close down and they refunded everyone's money. I might have to go to VIR in April to make up for it.
