Default 03 Track Edition build for sale (advice?)

I wanted to repurpose my old thread here but the forum won't let me rename it so I'll just start this new one. My '04 touring edition is coming along nicely although I'm constantly fighting the urge to "track strip" it. but I'm determined to keep it in good resale street condition.

I bought this 03 track edition 1 year ago with the intent to use it as a off-road W2W trailered car. a few months into it I had a change of heart and bought a Cayman and then a few months later bought a Z3 and realized I will never have the time / energy / funds to deal with comp racing. so I backtracked that plan and now I have this spare 350Z. I've taken parts off of it for my '04 and now I'm going to put it together as a for sale project car.

I will share some photos on here and request advice from this form community on the best choices for this car so that someone can take it for a reasonable price and turn it into a track car or whatever they want. The original hood and rear hatch with rear spoiler are included.

I have a full set of Brembo track edition front / rear brakes to go on it. the calipers are being powder coated red.

these photos show what the car looked like when I brought it home. The seller included the original hood and rear hatch. I transplanted the CF pieces to my '04.

as you can see it's been mostly stripped inside and I've taken the carpet out in addition. in the next post I will share the current state of the car and there's no reason why it could not be made street legal or taken for a full-time track/drift car.

The drivetrain is stock at this point w/~80k mi.
The interior is stripped but none of the sheet metal has been cut out yet.
Stock OEM hood+ rear hatch with Track Ed spoiler.
Most of the bushings and mounts are stock.
No radio. speakers have been removed.

Two options for suspension:
TEIN EnduraPro Plus shocks/struts +TEIN S-Tech Lowering Springs (like new)
or
CUSCO Zero-2 Coilovers (used)

Wheels on hand:
Stock 18x8 w/P-Zero tires 225/245
17x9.5 Enkei RPF1 no rubber18x10.5 Enkei RPF1 w/NT01 275 tires

Front bumper options:
Stock OEM (good)
Nismo V2-style fiberglass (finished/great cond)

Problems:
The one and only problem I'm aware of with this car is the gas gauge. I replaced both sending units on both sides with new units and that did not fix the gauge. so it must be in the wiring or the gauge itself. since the other gauges work I could assume it's the wiring.

That's all I can think of right now. should I put this car together street legal or put on track options and sell it as a track car?

And what do you think is a fair price in each case? I'm thinking $8,000 either way.

$8k comes off high but give it a minute to sink in and that’s probably a fair price and seeing how hot the z market is I think thats a good price.

You’ve got a lot of good stuff with the car and I would spend a few days cleaning it up / tidy’ing it up so it’s roadworthy and show-ready and list it for $10k to $12k and let someone talk you down.

I think if it’s driveable/roadworthy the things you’ve done will add value to the right buyer. An 80k running DE and assuming a CD009 transmission are hard to come by these days.

okay, thanks for the input. so you vote for streetable sale. I can do that but if a buyer is doing a cage/strip for comp racing, an offroad sale, then no reg, no insurance, no smog, and they pick it up on a trailer.

I get what you're saying though, I need to put it together with the best parts on hand. so I think I'm going to put the Enkei 10.5" wheels on it with the Brembos to solidify the track image. I'm keeping the two staggered sets for my '04.

the '04 is almost back on the road again and insured so I'll be able to free up garage space and get this '03 assembly going. after reading a few threads here lately I'm almost tempted to finish this car as a dedicated track car but that's just a fanciful daydream, because I prefer a street car with track upgrades and don't need two of them. this car will find a good home from someone who already has that in mind.

I have to reinstall the rear diff, all of the brakes, and see about fixing the gas gauge. put the OEM hood and hatch back on. there really isn't anything here that couldn't be done in a few weekends since I'm not screwing with bushings or mounts this time. I'll drop an update here when work begins. I'd like to get some closure on this as well. that means probably I should take a break from the track and focus on my garage.

yea you got a lot of projects dude! The Z chassis is definitely capable of doing a street/track car combo and still be fun and affordable. A good set of sticky tires and brakes and you will have fun on track.
