PERFORMANCE NISSAN 350Z REBOUNDS FROM LAP ONE INCIDENT
March 30, 2004 – Rosamond CA
The Performance Nissan 350z secured a 10th place finish after driver Mike Cronin Jr. encountered trouble on the first lap of the Grand Am Cup 250 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Mike had qualified the 350Z in a strong 6th position but fell back to dead last when forced into the pits with bent suspension. “The crew did an amazing job getting the car repaired and back on the track. Thanks to a yellow flag and fast crew work we only went 5 laps down”, said crew chief Jackson Stewart. Mike resumed his blistering pace and was one of the fastest cars on the track every
lap. Stu Hayner got in at the halfway point and was able to pick off cars every lap, securing a solid 10th place finish.
The weekend began with a successful test of the new #23 Nissan 350Z. Both cars ran nose to tail around the banking at Homestead, providing quite a show for the crowd. “The #23 car is just as fast, if not faster than the #33. Stu and I had a great time running together for the first time”, said Mike Cronin Jr. “The #23 is available as a rental but it is an important asset to the team as a backup car and test vehicle”, said team owner Mike Cronin Sr.
Persevering to a 10th place finish kept the team in 3rd place, with the drivers tied for 5th and 6th with the third most points overall.
The truck is heading back home and will arrive in time to turn around and head to Phoenix. The Phoenix Grand Am 200 will run Friday April 9th at 6 pm Pacific Time. It will air on Speed Channel April 18th at 3pm Pacific Time.

Hey Mark! I'm hoping they might have room in the car carrier for my Z.... so I have a toy to show off when I go to VIR later this year. My only fear is they use it for spare parts... j/k. Looking forward to finally meeting you in person!!!!
