Road race
This last weekend we had a road race in Nashville at the Tennessee Baptist Childrens Home. I didn't run my Z but I did run my 99.5 Silver Jetta 115hp 2.0 litre.
My little Jetta on blown stock suspension actually demolished a 91 Z32TT (driver difference) and did good for what it is. My best run in competition was a 69.1 second but I decided to run a fun run and pulled a 67 from somewhere since I don't know where I shaved off two seconds. We also had a brickyard 350Z show up and run it is in the videos too and it did very well.

Thats good, but I would hope that you would be close or better than a Z32, they are overweight pigs w/ sloppy suspension. Look at the cars that usually win autox. They are usually light front wheel drive cars. Here in town a CRX beat the crap out of a 996tt. Again, the 3700 lbs Porsche is at a huge disadvantage in a low speed autox that has lots of turns.
Well it wasn't even close. The Z32TTs handle better then you believe. They can easily give a 350Z a good run for the money. This wasn't that tight of a course though and my 115hp Jetta still demolished his 300hp Z32TT. he should of creamed me but he didn't. A good driver behind the wheel of the TT would of creamed my Jetta but not this one his best was a 72 seconds around the track and my Jetta ran a best of 67 seconds.
Please don't think poorly of the car or the driver. I was there and talked a lot with the guy who brought his 300 ZX. It was his very first race and this was definitely not a course to learn on. He bought the car brand new in 1991 and has kept it pristine. He spoke of it as you would expect a proud father worrying about his child.
Like all of us he was sweating the trees, dropoffs and the power pole at the end of the long straight but without the benefit of any experience with autocrossing. I think he did pretty well considering the circumstances.
This was a course that ran through the Children's Home that is more like a campus with old trees and lots of shade. Working the course was a nice change from hot parking lots and old airports. Shade, cool breeze and action at all stations made it a great race to participate in. I plan to run again in the fall.
BTW, I ran a 60.8
