Mid-Ohio HPDE 8/20-22
How were you timing yourself at M-O, John? The dash stopwatch?
My data ack showed my best time (on the S-03s) was 1:51.70 on the last session on Sunday, when it finally dried out (after the snow). Best on Saturday was 1:52.30. And of course nothing under 2 minutes on Friday because of all the rain, sleet, snow, hurricanes, whatever.

I'm back from my one day HPDE. Only 2 other 350Z's were there on Friday, Igor's FI touring, and Steve's white track, both reappearing from the April event. They were planning on running all 3 days. Jim, the classroom instructor form the April event was there, but sadly without his silver track which had been totaled at a recent event.....he's fine, and was my on track instructor.
My bad luck with weather there continued......cloudy but dry for my 1st morning session, then the relentless rain came in......I did 1 session in the wet, learning the CORRECT wet line, but I decided to skip the 3rd session as it was still pouring.
All in all, I had a good time catching up with old friends and making a few new ones.
I did find something rather cool there though........

Jim's fine...he had put a wheel off in Madness, where he does all the time with dry infield, but that time is was wet, and, well you can guess the rest.
The wet line he showed me is to keep the "loaded" outside tires on the asphalt, off the concrete.
I kind of thought you'd be interested in the shocks!
All the shocks are Koni's....the black ones are big dollar ($1700.00 each) 4 way adjustable aluminum, going on the Unitech Z when they are fully tested. They weren't on it at MO. The blue shocks are double adjustable (around $2300.00 a set with Eibach springs). And, yes TrueChoice is making & selling them. Delayed, as Holland is on a month long vacation!

And when they refer to them as "double-adjustable", does that mean both the bound and rebound?
So they'll be on sale as soon as the Dutch return from vacation?
Thanks for the info Bruce. I'll be contacting them this afternoon to get some more figures on spring rates, actual release dates, et cetera. Oh, and I have a set of JIC FLT-A2s for sale!
Just got off the phone with Michael Rowe. The Phase 3 and 4 package are available now if you want them.
Phase 3:
Phase Three consists of all features from the Phase Two solution and utilizes Koni Externally Double-adjustable Sport Shocks with Coil-over kit and Eibach ERS Spring System.
Phase three features all of the Phase two solutions plus:
Independent adjustment for both compression and rebound damping.
The wide range of shock damping adjustability is ideal for tuning to all types of track conditions - or from street to track with the turn of a screwdriver.
Shocks are rebuildable and revalvable for all applications.
Phase 4 is a modified / shortened Phase 3 damper.
Phase 5 is the damper used on the Grand Am cars... probably not something I'd try on the street.
I was suprised at the spring rates that are being used though: ~500# in the front, ~350# in the rear. However, the dampers are designed to handle ~1000#.
Did I mention my JICs are for sale?

Hey guys, is it just me, or is there something wrong with the board? When I go to the top page of any forum, there are no titles in the thread listings. Just a column of empty boxes with the little logos (for attachments, etc.) in them. It's been that way for several days at least. Database problems?
James, it's working OK for me, albeit extremely slow loading and changing pages.
John, do the non full race sets include adjustable rear ride height?
Also, have they thought of a way to adjust the rear shocks without removing them? Like you can do with your rear JIC shocks.
I do like the fact that Eibach offers a near infinite range of spring rates. Their recommended rates seem VERY soft to me for a track set-up. But, what the h*ll do I know........
BTW...Igor got into the 1:43's..........
BTW #2...James, have you read the October Sport Compact Car about the Elise? I think they wet their pants in praise!

Are these pics of Jim's wrecked Z?

I tried to find out some info about it a few months ago and wasn't able to find anything.

That looks to be the one...OUCH! I wasn't there, but I took Jim for a spin in my Z when I was at the MO NASA HPDE early this year. What a nice guy...sucks to see that car in that condition.

As for spring rates, I'm debating what to go with. Probably 10kg/mm (560#) both front and rear, which will be a tad softer in the rear what I have now.
