How does the mounting bar stay in the seat? Is it clamped or anything? Nice setup, just wondering how secure the mount is to the seat in case of emergency.

The MiniDVR finally showed up. Here's a pic. I've been using a Canon ZR80 in the mean time. The video with the bullet cam and the ZR80 is outstanding even plugged into a tv.

The MiniDVR has 4 levels of recording. The best is like 380x260 or something like that. My bullet cam is 480 lines of resolution. It looks really good on a computer, but it gets a bit jaggie when you plug it into a tv and watch the video.

Its really nice to just plug in the cf disk and go. It also has an SD card slot too. That's pretty cool because I can watch videos on my phone which has SD card slot too.

The major drawback to this setup is that you can't see what you are doing. In order to record, you have to use the remote and memorize the buttons to press to make it record. Its only two button clicks on the remote to make it happen, but there is no way to know for certain that its recording. So far I have not had a problem making it record, but it is a PITA not knowing for sure. I think it runs $350, but I got mine on Ebay for $225.

Its just a bunch of technical mumbo-jumbo. I really wanted this thread to be about the video equipment not the mounting hardware but oh well. I should have made it more clear. Here's the translation for the technically impaired. Its a cool little gismo that's off the hizzle fashizzle.

Are you getting a shot of nitrous installed?

1/4" aluminum tube is exact size (or a tad bigger) as headrest polls. So it just seats there, real tight, without any additional fixation necessary.

I know this thread is old but wanted to resurrect the topic to find out the latest technology. Does anyone have the latest equipment they're using to videotape their auto-x or track events? It can be a combination of a bullet camera coupled with a recording device, OR a small digital camera that can record action shots (movie recording feature). I've got the Avalon Racing harness bar so I'm looking for a setup that can be mounted on it. Lastly, would like to keep the cost at a reasonable level so if it's around $200-$300, don't hesitate to chime in.

http://www.chasecam.com/bulletcam.htm

I have 2 of their bullet cams, PIP unit, and use my camcorder to record it. The bullet cams are great b/c it's easy to secure the camera to the exterior of the car for some great shots!

I found this wireless bullet camera & receiver but still need to get a video recorder. I'm wondering if there are any other wireless setups & what the quality is.

When I got my rollbar, I upgraded my home depot bar to the IO port camera mount. It works great and is approved by most sanctioning bodies for race use. I use a canon mini dv recorder that I alreay owned before the Z.

Ditto on the IO Port. It sets up easily, is flexible, and works well.
