Default Looking for info so i can choose the right suspension setup

i haven't bought anything yet and i'm pretty much stock except for my nismo wheels (245/275 t1-s)

i want to begin working on my suspension but i'm a newbie. i plan on getting hotchkis sways as my first mod

i don't know weather i should go with coilovers or springs. i have plans of auto-x in the future and maybe some road-racing, and dragging, but i want to mainly focus on auto-x

i was thinking about getting the hotckis springs because i heard somewhere they work well w/ the sways, but then i realized i don't know anything about springs and it wouldn't be wise to go out and buy hotchkis springs because i heard something that i don't even know is true

i hear terms like dampening, monotube coilovers, spring rates, linear/progressive, etc. all the time but i have no idea what they mean, anyone have any links or such where a newbie like me can begin learning?

i don't even know what questions to ask because i don't know enough. what should i be looking for when purchasing springs/coilovers?
should i also focus on getting new shocks w/ the springs/coilovers?
is it important to choose sways and spring/coilovers that work well w/ each other?

any info you can throw at me is appreciated

If you're new to the autox world than the best thing to do is get seat time first, then start doing mods. The Z is very good in stock form.
But, if you're set in getting mods, than coilovers will offer the best in performance.

daveh is right. The driver is the biggest improvement one can make. Check out the evo driving schools, an scca recomended group.

If you want to do something easy and such, I would recommend Koni shocks.

thanks for the link, that site has good info for newbies like me

seat time is probably the best thing to do before i start modding

what would the shocks do for me?

also, anyone have any links where i can find out what effects certain mods have on the car? for ex. the different effects progressive and linear spring have on a car through a turn and such

thanks for the help
