I know this is a really old thread but, I did mine the other day and these steps were very unnecessary.

I removed the lower steering Column Shroud and the Grey and Yellow clips were literally right there on the bottom.

I am also going to be putting the Cruise Control Module in the Ashtray in the center Console.

Will Post pics of the Clips as soon as I get around to Splicing the CC back in

I appreciate you letting people know, with the new hubs you dont need to go through this whole process. I had to because I had to remove the center portion so that I could put my hub in.

Yes I believe that is the issue. Take it back apart and check your connections. I would recommend soldering your wires together to prevent this.

i took my cruise plastic off the steering wheel and had it cut stright up and down ( cut off the curve around the airbag etc).
I will be screwing that directly into the coin pocket ashtray thing in front of the shifter.
Clears when flipped closed. Looks clean.
I cannot WAIT to get back the use of my horn.. revvs w test pipes are my only alert in traffic as of now.. so lame.
Should be a pretty simple deal.
Pics to follow when i get off my duff and finish it.

I sold my steering wheel along with my cruise control buttons. So now with my aftermarket wheel I always receive a cel. Is there any way to install a resister so that the system thinks the buttons are there, or can I use any cruise control buttons

How many resistors did you install when you installed your aftermarket wheel? You should have installed two. I believe both are for the airbag because it is a dual stage airbag. The lack of steering wheel controls would not cause a CEL.
