I am replacing my wheel hub assembly on my 2003 Nissan 350Z non-brembo. looking at the Nissan Repair Manual it seems there are alot of parts to remove. reading this thread, it seems you can get to it by

1) remove the calipers (2 bolts)
2) remove the rotors
3) remove the 4 bolts that holds the hub assembly in place.

then reverse the order. is this exactly all the steps or is there something else? any additional steps/parts no matter how small, please advise

i have never done a repair like this at all and don't want any surprises. just the manual has so many parts to remove

Goddammit I cant get the damn caliper bracket bolts out WTF!!!!! How the hell did you fit that huge pipe in there???? Take off the bumper and splash guards?

use a wrench and a dead blow hammer to bang on the wrench. I called it a home made impact wrench

 

just to be clear, if i just need to replace the bearings, they are seperate from the wheel hub assembly? or can i just buy the assembly?

 

for the front you just buy the assembly.

phreak - you end up getting the bolts out?

 

just bought a new hub from Rockauto for about $120 (Timken HA590027) shipped. Gonna change out my old hub this weekend.

 

What's the best way to determine if your wheel bearing is going bad?

 

It's bad if you hear noise or if your wheel wobbles. To check for the wobble you have to jack up the car and then rock the wheel by hand to see if there is any wobble.

 

A lot of people have stated that the wobble must be tested by holding the top and bottom of the wheel, my wheel doesnt wobble like that, but if i grab it on the sides, there is a wobble, is that just due to free play that must be there due to steering components or is the hub in need of replacing?? The other side doesnt wobble at all and i have this humming noise coming from one of the wheels so i think its the bearing... any help??
