Thumbs down SS Front Brake line issues

I just changed my pads and noticed that my brake lines are starting to chafe after 6000 miles. Has any one had this happen? Its bad enough that they will need to be replaced. The stoptech lines only have the one mount at which point you just slide the line to adjust slack. Any tips on what to do next time to prevent this. Anyone have pics of how they placed their line?

Exactly where is the wear on your lines? So I can inspect mine that have been on the car for 20K.

Its fairly obvious. Its the part of the line that is between the only bracket and the caliper where the line is on the rise up to caliper. On both sides it had worn. Passenger side was very very bad. I will order new lines tomorrow from Performance. I installed these lines when I put the brembos on. I remember wondering when I installed what kept the line off the tire. I guess I should have worried more about it at the time but I thought it must be ok.

If you do find that yours is ok . . .could you describe to me how it is placed and / or a pic.

Ok so I found this pic:

That is not where I have mine mounted . . .I have mine on the bracket up near the spring. Unfortunately there was no instructions and I just put it there out of similarity to the stock. Oh well, I guess I that will teach me to install brake lines in a hurry late at night.

i would order the technafit lines. they are like the stock 3 piece lines, so they have no binding, and they have a teflon shield to prevent this sorta thing.

Yeah the stoptech are coated as well. I just have the bracket mounted wrong and it causes the line to touch on turns.

That is where I mounted mine per the modified Stoptech instructions, but I mounted it with the line running on top of the 2 bolts instead of to the side of the two bolts. I just checked them the other day and they are perfect.

Adam, did you mount the bracket on the opposite side of the arm (sorry, can't remember what it is called) that is in the photo? That's where I have mine.

John, that is where the Stoptech instructions state to mount it, but I was informed that they had changed that decision but hadn't updated the PDFs on the site to the new location which involves removing that bracket intirely and mounting the stoptech bracket to the top hole where the old bracket was attached. I can take pics if anyone needs them.

No I mounted it on the bracket that is next to the spring. Real goofy looking back on why I did it that way . . . Now I am out another $100.

Mine was mounted on that rear-of-the-car-side of the connecting arm bracket that was part of the OEM brake line bracket.

Yeah you guys are talking about the same thing. It is completely removed in the pic above. I will take some pics of the bracket tommorow and post them since I removed both of mine to mount the stoptech in their place.

It's been over a year now that I had a brake line problem with their suggested routing of their SS brake lines from their instructions. I melted the clear coating. Sad that they have yet to correct their routing suggestions. I have re-routed my lines succesfully......I'll look into finding pics soon. Simply, run the lines behind the upright, away from the rotor face.

DAMN SNOW!!!!!

Hi guys...I have mine routed in front of the upright, and I haven't had any problems at all. I track my car every month. Sorry for any confusion this has caused.

Here's a pic of the normal routing:

Apparently, this has been our website since October, and I didn't even know it!

This should clear up all of the questions. Thanks.
