Default Brake pads and slotted rotors installed *pics

I just finished installing my Hawks HPS brake pads and a set of drilled and slotted rotors and I painted my calipers red with the help of my AAA mechanic friend. Once I finished and gave it a test drive, it made so much noise like a whirling noise like the rotors are touching something when it is spinning. And you can hear clunking noises in the rear. I dont hear anything in the front. Did we do something wrong? My friend wasnt here on the test drive and I have yet to ask him why. Here are some pictures of the completion and what happened after the test drive:

Did you make sure and follow the break-in / bedding instructions for the rotors and pads?

You're supposed to go out and do several hard stops from 30mph to 5mph (don't let ABS kick in) and then, several hard stops from 50mph to 5mph (again, hard enough but not letting ABS take over)

Some pads/rotors have different bedding instructions, so check with the manufacturer, or other posts on this board... but its generally a good idea to break them in, and help mate the pads to the rotors.

I would not bed them in until you get that noise checked out. DO NOT drive until you get the clunk checked out. Call your AAA friend.

Thanks, they do look great and I bought the rotors on ebay from rotorpros. I just bought some VHT caliper paint. The outcome looks awesome but still figuring out the problem. I will find out on Friday. My friend told me not to drive it yet until its fixed. I think the shims on the pads are rubbing the rotors which makes the rubbing sound coming from the back. My fronts are okay but the rears are having a problem.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but have you checked to make sure that all of the pads were inserted into the calipers in the right direction, with the compound on the rotor-facing side?

Good luck!

My friend and I checked the rotors and the gap between the rotors and the calipers were soooo close compared to the stock rotors. And it is still making the metal to metal noise.can anyone can help?

I think its the inner ring. Its not flushed with the rotors. It sticks out and thats what is causing the rotors to be soooo close to the calipers. And I am assuming the rotors are rubbing the calipers.

have you tried putting the rear stock rotors and pads back on again? That way you can check to see if it is your new setup.

It is the rotors. Appearantly, the got the wrong batch of rotors, the inner ring is not sitting flushed which causes the outside portion of the rotors to stick out more than usual. The seller that I dealt with is very good about customer service. He sent me a replacement set of rears knowing that it was a defective product. I bought it on ebay from rotorpros.

Make sure you send him an email about the inner ring on the rear rotors. So the problem could be solve first hand!
