Rebuilding Stoptech calipers

Rebuilding Stoptech calipers
After about 2 years, and about 20 track days, I'm thinking that MAYBE I should rebuild them. My dust boots have been cooked for a long time, but the brakes still work great.
Can I get away with just replacing the seals and boots? Or will I need to replace the pistons? If they are stainless, they should be fine. If they are chrome plated, they MIGHT be pitted. I won't know till I actually take them apart. The 8 pistons aren't cheap, but if needed I'll replace. I don't want to skimp on maintaining their awesome performance!
Has anyone rebuilt there's? Any tips? Any special tool to remove the pistons without damaging them?
