After getting 19’s with 35/275 tires, I was disappointed with the fender gap in the rear and made it look “4x4-ish.” I was debating on getting the RSR TI 2000 springs but could not afford to drop the car since I was already scraping everything (I live in Irvine, go figure). So I searched around and found the “upper seat” or “bump stop” mod intriguing and decided to give it a go. I consulted Steve from Corner3 Garage in Lake Forest is there is any negative ramifications from this adjustment and he agreed that he did not see any issues; only that some weight will be transferred to the rear.. but even that is a not a bad idea.
Steve went ahead and dropped the rear end and took a couple of bolts out that held the control arm in place. Took the spring out then proceeded to pull the upper seat out. The upper seat looked like a big donut that was 2” think. He took a hacksaw to it and cut it in half till it was 1”. The way he did it was clean with no gummy mess. Slap the seats back in, springs and bolt it back.

Titanjc, I have the Tein S Tech only in the rear, without spare tire and the Invidia N1+y-pipe wich is lighter. My Z is flat even now, I can power oversteer at the track and the ride is a bit firmer.
I wanted it to be exactly like this. I'm sure the ride would be better with the fronts on, no more bounce, but it would lower it too much for my garage entrance + my taste.
Recently I added the Nismo swaybars, It feels great, less roll in the front, less understeer, etc... 2 thumbs up

You guys are freakin' geniuses!
I would have never even bothered to look at the spring isolator (not bump stop) as a means of lowering the rear. This mod is for me as I really like my 04.5 suspension's ride/clearance, but the rear gap is too much.
Here is repayment in kind. If the stocker really is two inches, instead of hacking it in half, you could just replace it with these:
Energy Suspension Coil Spring Isolators
Now someone needs to figure out the right style/diameter/thickness to order and post it!
Question: will this require a realignment?

Sorry for the super late delay on the images. Here you guys go.
Before
After
Overall I am happy with the drop but I will drop it another .6" with the RSR springs to make it flat.
