Default Tein Basics Installed!

I just got my tein basics installed on my Z coupe today. Dropped the front 0.8 inch and the rear an even 1 inch.

Initial impressions.

Car rides much like stock only more responsive. The difference in corners is definitely noticable. Very smooth ride but bumps feel firmer, not punishing however, in any way.

These in my opinion are the perfect setup for daily driver occasional track event.

In comparison to the stock parts that were taken out of the car, the Tein components seem to be much better quality. Definitely heavier and beefier than stock.

I have some comparison pics if someone can host them for me.

Those were my exact impressions. I'm loving my setup as of now.

97 grn ss and Zexy what year are your Z's? If either of you have 04 cars, can you tell me the build date of your cars (from builders plate on your drivers side door jam)?

I'm about to install mine TEIN basic also. What's the lowest you can drop without having camber problem? TIA.

I haven't gotten an alignment yet, but I doubt I will needto replace the A arms for camber on the front. 0.8 is the same drop as nismo S-tune(can be adjusted back to spec). The rear may need camber and toe bars, but visually it does not look like it would be off too much at 1.0 inch of drop.

with that much drop, can you go through speed bumps like you did before?

Looks good BTW.

I haven't really had a chance to see if I can clear speed bumps. I doubt it though. It was pretty close to scraping at stock height

Once I get my rims I will have to be even more careful!

Heres a photoshop of the rims, which should be here this week.

let me know what you think

the rims look very nice! I just installed my TIEN basic today with .75 all around. It doesn't look any different from stock height. I bought it used, so do you think the idea of let it set in for a week or 2 still apply?

Thanks Z phat Z

Mine is 0.8 in the front. Does your drop look similar to the one on my car. Mine settled as soon as I went for a drive but I am still going to wait a couple of weeks to get an alignment.

maybe recheck the height adjustment as per the tein manual.

Why is everyone so afraid to lower there cars, lower cars look much better and aggressive. The lower your car is the better it will handle that is why drifters cars are so low. So many people are buying springs and keeping there cars looking stock, that is just a waste of money IMO.

don't worry about the drop just get it, it looks way better. a nice coilover setup is probably one of the best most noticeable modifications.

where are your rings set at? Are they all the way at the top or 3/4 of the way up?? I want to install my tein basics and set them at stock height until i get some camber kits.

i'm not sure if you can set it to stock height.
if you look in the tein basic manual, it tells you where to measure from to get the 1 inch drop, use that as a guide

THIS is what worries me personally. On my WRX I installed the TEIN H TECHS, .8 rear 1.0" drop front and a couple hundred-thousand miles later I needed new rear tires, the inside was completely worn. I thought that was ridiculous from such a moderate drop, but alas that was the case. It's scarred me now...except now I won't be replacing measly 215 tires but 275s! That's $$$.

Anybody have a successful, time tested drop withOUT the use of a camber arms or shocks?
