Default Tokico D-spec suspension

Has anyone tried the Tokico Dspec suspension. What is the reputation of this company and also this shock/spring combination. Also I noticed some companies are just selling the damper by itself w/o the springs. Would someone know another spring combo that would fit with the Tokico Dspec suspension? Thanks.

I have a set, they are being installed as we speak, I have heard that they are very much the same as the NISMO sus kit. Don't think that the kit with springs has been released just yet, although the box mine came in was labeled for only shocks or whole kit. Got em cheep in Stillen group buy, that is what sold me. I am going to pair them with NISMO struts (also being installed) but stock springs, as I really do not want a lower Z.

I have had mine on for about 4 weeks. They will work with any spring that will work with the stock shocks. I currently have Eibach springs with them.

While they advertise 16-way adjustable, they are really infinitely adjustable between full hard and full soft (which is 7 full turns of the adjustment ****). I was suprised at how much difference there is with even one turn. Three turns from full hard is softer than stock, and it feels like 2 turns is about stock level, or perhaps slighlty firmer.

I have run them on the track and the street with one turn from full hard, and they are definitely firmer than stock at this setting. I like 2 turns from full hard for the street, but depending on how you drive, you might like a different setting.

I just put them on and had a chance to test them out on a loooong trip to ZdayZ, I put them on 4 turns from firm and they rode so smoooooth it was great, then I was lazy to adjust them for the tail and they did fine, probably better if I had set them on 2 or less but not bad on 4.

I'm pretty sure this is going to be my next mod to kinda round out my suspension mods... I'm really impressed with the Hotchkis Springs/Sways, and think that these shocks will complement them nicely... thanks for the input on settings as well! (I have a couple track days coming up in July/August - might need to upgrade some cooling too as it's already 90+ here in TX!)

I purchased the Tokico D-spec (shocks only) for $459 from Stillen. I also purchased the engine brace, and total shipping on both (including the very large and heavy box the Tokico came in) was $38.23. Unlike other firms catering to the Z market, they obviously don't make thier profit from "hidden" shipping costs. Any springs that fit stock strut/shocks should fit these. I had been looking at these anyway as a replacement for the stock setup, and that price made the deal for me. I am holding off on springs because all the springs I have seen so far lower the car, and I really don't want to lower if I don't have to. The car is low enough for me now.

The NISMO sway / D-specs / Stock Springs works for me. So far, no change in noise from stock (no wierd squeaking or anything else) and handling is much improved. This is where I wish the car had been when I bought it, as far as cornering goes. I was disapointed with stock handling (thought it could be better) and with this combo it is better. Haven't adjusted the D-specs yet, will experiment in the near future.

D-spec's are great shocks & can be paired with any spring you want - stock, htechs, stechs & on & on.

There rep is good with many years experience.
The only other ones I considered were Teins combo.
Like Gringott . . . . got mine off gb @ Stillen.
Paired w/ sways . . . . it's good stuff.

I don't know if it is true, but I heard that they made the NISMO kit to Nissan's specs. A comparison of the two should show if they are close.

I got mine off stillen's first group buy for them for $432, shipped! Had them on since september and love them. Mine are in combo with eibach springs and cusco sways on 19" wheels. I use 4 for long trips and 2 for twisties, but usually just leave them on the last setting until I need to change them.

You can find them on ebay sometimes for 499.

Should the D-spec work with Sportline Eibachs?
Yes, as z4c states, the D-Specs should work with any spring that will work with the stock shocks, that includes the new Sportline Eibachs as well as the Pro-Kit springs.

I have contacted Tokico directly, and the exception is springs with significant spring rates. I had intended to use the NISMO SCCA Touring 2 springs with these shocks. However, the spring rates on these springs are very high (600 Fr/690 Rr). These shocks are not valved for rates that high. The Eibachs are much less than this - should be no problem.
