Big brake kits...so many
Ok so my next mod will be a big brake kit for my Z. I want to have some more stopping power. Problem is there are so many kits...stoptech, brembo, wilwood, apracing, endless. Some of these kits are very expensive. I don't plan to put my car on the track much if at all but i do plan to drive it hard on the road and get FI. I'm not sure if i need the bbk on both front and rears since i won't really be on the track. Any opinions on which kit to buy or experiences had with different kits would be much appreciated. Also besides the looks, do i really need big brakes on both front and rear?
if just for daily drive ( no tracking) then you don't need rear. I used Rotora 6piston BBK and happy with it. Do more searching and you will see lots of threads about this. However, it all come down to how much you can afford and the brand name. To me, for daily drive, a $2K kit would do the same job as $5K kit.
Any of these kits will work, but none are needed on the streets. The biggest improvement you can make to your braking is sticky front tires. Some good pads and braided lines will enhance it even further. Where the big brakes some into play is at the track where you make repeated stops that simply overheat the stock stuff.

Do front and rear, just doing the front looks peculiar IMO. I'm considering the latest Wilwoods.
IMO, I think Stoptech's are the best all around but they're just a little out of my price range.

Wilwood is a very established company. The do more with muscle cars, hot rods, and other domestics. They are not too big in the import scene, but they are high quality brakes.

If your're planning on keeping your car as a daily driver with no track time, then you might want to get cerametallic brake pads with slotted or cross drilled rotors (that's assuming you just want better braking power while keeping your stock look).
Honestly, you're really only gonna notice the true potential of a BBK braking power on a track. I am gonna start tracking my car in a couple of months after i get some internals done as well as a BBK (to keep the stopping power constant). If i had a choice for a BBK and money wasn't an option, I would prolly choose the stoptech 14.1" front and 12.9" rear kit.
If you would like some recommendations on a BBK or a brake upgrade for that matter, you might want to ask the people at performance nissan for some help, theyr'e very knowledgable when it comes to Nissan parts. You can check out their site at www.mynismo.com.
Good luck with the brake shopping (I'm sure you'll be happy with either option I gave you) and happy driving.

Thanks for the link, my car isn't my daily driver. I"m going to get a single turbo or vortec kit so i wanted to some serious stopping power to go along with the increase hp/tq. Looks like stop tech is the way to go. How hard is it to find used brembos off a z track???

If you want big brakes for the fade resistance, go for it. If you want them because they look cool, go for it. I would not expect a big difference in stopping distance, if you want that, better tires are the way to go.

I'm chewing the hell out of my stock break pads since going F.I. If your going F.I. than obviously you like to accelerate... so it stands to reason that better brakes are in order. If you have the "go" than your going to need th "slow" if you plan to be around other traffic, either on the track or street. The notion of upgrading one aspect of performance requries further upgrades through out the system is in fact valid. My stock tires and clutch didn't stand a chance with my TURBO TWINS
Looking forward to getting my Stoptechs on all four corners. This crap is expensive though
