Question Tein flex

to all of you out there who have the tein flex coilovers, tell me what you think about them. i know some people say they r too stiff but ive never been in a car with this setup myself. i dont mind if its a little stiff as i track the car and need that bit of stiffness but i also drive on the street and kinda of like my kidnys... so what do you think of them and how have they changed the handling and balance of the car??????

I have them. They are stiff but I like the ride they provide. I find most of the springs out there for the Z to be too soft. Having the EDFC is nice too so you can soften the damping on the fly. If you drive on mostly smooth roads, you will love the Tein Flex.

I like mine, especially for what I paid for them. Of course, there are better out there, (ZEALS, Motons lol) but for the money they are hard to pass up. Not to mention having EDFC on a street/track car is an awesome feature. My area has pretty ****ty roads unfortunately, and the ride isn't all that bad when the dampening level is soft, and that's with 19's. It's still stiffer than stock on the softest setting, but I have no problem dealing with it. It really comes down to personal preference when it comes to how a car rides. As far as handling goes, it feels a lot more planted coming in and out of corners. Mid corner speed went up about 3mph on a cloverleaf that I can take at about 55. It's pretty well balanced although I think a rear sway bar is in order . Coming into a corner trail braking it will swing the tail a little bit, and also has a decent amount of mid lift oversteer. Coming out of some corners it will plow a bit if I'm really on it, but I think that's just because of my tire set up at this point (255f 285r), and not to mention the tire psi isn't dialed in. I'm planning to get the 350Evo sway bars, which should take the handling up a notch or two :P. Hope I helped!

i just got the flex, i thought it was massively stiffer than stock (on 1 of course) but on 16, it is acceptable, but still pretty stiff! B4 i hesitated about the edfc because i wasnt sure if i really needed it.. but i'm SO glad I got it. Makes life a lot easier.

are there any other coilovers that are in-car adjustable, like the flex w/ edfc is?

I want to point out that G35 coupes delivered on oem 17's and 18's have a lot softer shocks them oem Z's do. Your starting point is going to be different vs Z owners that's all.

The new Sustec Pro SEVEN's from Tanabe are in-car adjustable, using TEAS as the adjusting unit. The TEAS system is pretty advanced compared to TEIN's EDFC, in the fact that you can program it to have adjusting dampening rates at various speeds. Very cool feature, but it's not really proven yet, not to mention this set-up is a good amount more money than TEIN's.

The adjustment range on the SEVENs is supposed to be much wider than anything else out there right now... been keeping my eye on them. More expensive, yes... but probably worth it.

what do u mean? I meant on 1 it is a lot stiffer (1 being the stiffest and 16 being the softest) on the edfc.

I have the infamous Tein Flex rattle occasionally. Had it fixed once and it's rattling again =(

Other than that, it's a great coilover (for the $$$) paired with the EDFC.

the rears don't let you drop the car "enough"--depending what each of use defines as enough, of course haha
