This is brand new. Great for street or track.

I've actually ridden in these coilovers on an evo. And for their price this is one of the best bang for bucks. I might actually have to order some for my z and give them a try and give you guys on my350z a comparison. But on the evo they were very well damped

Why does the oem rear version have such a low spring rate compared to the front?

11k/5k those are the worst spring rates I've seen yet.

Agreed. An 11k spring on the rear shock body translates to much higher wheel rates than an 11k spring on the oem location right?

 

Yes, but it's the whole setup not just what the rear math's out to, 784lbs on the street that's a bit much. I totally agree with the guy at Ohlins that does not see the need to spring as high as JDM tuners do.

616lbs rear wheel rate with the springs on the dampners = 363lbs
616lbs rear wheel rate with the springs in the oem location = 212lbs

 

I agree. I'm personally getting a set of HKS LS+ form a localmember with 8kg/front and rear. After riding on this setup I honest think its the perfect balance. I would certainly not go any stiffer for a street car.

 

remember though its not just about spring rate is is also how the shock is valved to match the springs...

 

Thats pretty obvious by 5KG rear? Thats transferring WAY too much bias to the rear. These might be good for a drag race only setup.

what goes into converting the rear to a true coilover?

 

there isnt much in transforming the rear to true coilover.
just install and viola remove stock spring though =)

also if you guys see the other thread let me know what you would like to see in terms of spring rates

 

What kind of adjustment do the damper have ?

 

Do these come with the camber plates? Which ones are the new design that allows the rear to be lowered more?

 

camber plates are pretty useless on our cars.
