Default did my coilovers get installed right???

i was wondering if anyone could help me out with this situation...a friend of mine installed my coilovers for me last weekend and the way he installed the rear spring was with the adjustable pertch on the top of the spring so there is no rubber bushing in between the pertch and the car so it is metal to metal and is really annoying..now what i would like to know is if wether or not that is how it is supposed to be installed or if there is something to put between the two to get rid of all the clanking or does the pertch sit on the bottom with the stock rubber bushing sitting on top of the spring..any advice would help..i bought these used so i didnt get any instructions with them
TIA,

I am pretty sure there is supposed to be a rubber piece at both the top and bottom of the rear spring. The bottom rubber piece is removeable and has a "groove" in it that the spring fits into. The top rubber piece is fixed. If you have both rubber pieces on top with nothing on the bottom, that is wrong.

the coilover height adj seat sits on the bottom...
its metal... if you want to get less squeak, put some dampening material in between because the spring adj seat is just like that

Sorry for the wrong information in post 3. I guess I am not running a true "coilover" on the rear so it sounds like it was installed correctly.

no cuz if u run true coilover u wont have spring/adj perch etc etc
so u wont have this problem
...
u'll just have something similar to the fronts (coilover)
the type we're talking about is basically old school shocks and springs
lol

I don't know then, because the height adjustment perch for my Tein Basics sits on top of the spring. What kind of coilovers did you get? Tein has installation instructions online. http://www.tein.com/ti/inst/lp26u.pdf

the stock rubber peice that it shows on the tien instructions doesnt fit in the hole of the pertch in the jic's like it does in the tiens...i read somewhere that on the jic's its possible that the pertch could sit on the bottom...can anyone verify that?

yeah i know...so i found out today that the perch needs to be connected to the car by drilling holes through them and the car then bolted down..dont know if i want to do that..i guess ill just try to add a thin peice of rubber in between the two and just live with whatever noise is left
