Default newb question: difference between coilover and spring/strut

All,

Please excuse my ignorance. What is the advantages of going with a coilover setup rather than a set of Tein S-Techs coupled with a Tokico D-SPEC strut with adjustable dampening?

I know that most coilovers you can also adjust ride height, is that the only advantage?

I autocross my car and other than that its a daily driver. I already have springs on stock struts, but was thinking about getting a coilover set. Everyone knows coilovers are $$$$, but after seeing that I could just get a Tokico set of struts to adjust dampening for much cheaper, I started to consider that alternative.

Ride height doesnt matter much to me because the way it sits now is perfect for me.

Anyone want to give me some pros and cons?

Thanks all,

Neil Kohler
