true if you install it at the same time the coilovers go in for the first time. But if you retrofit them, it's the cost of removing the front coilovers, swapping in new springs, putting back together and then a new alignment. For a 1kg change, especially on a unit valved like the LS, it's a lot of effort. But if you are pleased with it, all the better

thanks tanabe for the link, ive read through that one already, its not enough info for me since the owner replaced his jics rather than a nice street/track setup.

z1 its hard to sort through the zeal threads since im looking for more of a comparison between the tanabes and zeals which will probably not happen for another year or so.

a nice comprehenisve comparison would be awsome if sportz would like to host something like that

all future reviews welcome, thanks for the help guys

It doesn't cost anything to remove the coils and replace them if you have a jack, about 5 different sockets and a ratchet, and about an hour of time. If you are serious enough about handling to switch springs just to move 1 KG/MM of force then you no doubt bought a lifetime alignment already and guess what the only cost was the beer I drank and the springs. You have to decrease ride height of the car to preload the springs or buy shims/spacer neither of which I was interested in doing when for $140 I could swap to the spring rate I wanted and maintain the hide reight I desired. Of course you have to not care about getting dirty first...

nearly every coilover on the market, with maybe 2 exceptions I can think of, retain the OE setup

I think I will have to go with Stance or Buddyclub then.
I don't really want to use the SPC camber arm and bolt. I thinking battle version is do teh job.

Thanks Guys

I actually use the Zeal V6 on my car right now with a full coilover setup in the rear. I absolutely love them and have been a very happy owner for a good year and a half now. Before this, I was using the Hipermax II's and those were awesome too. Very soon, I'll be upgrading to the Zeal Super Function R's! Man, I can't wait until those come in later this summer.
If you have any questions regarding coilovers, feel free to give me a call.

There are a lot of different coilovers on the market for the Z, your choice will boil down to what you will be using the car for and what your expectations are. Ive read through this thread and people seem to have mixed feelings about the Tanabe Seven's but I will vouch for them. Yes it is probably one of the very newest coilovers for the Z now and I would say they are worth the money. Their new valving technology is something I have never seen before and it looks like adjusting the dampers will make actual noticable differences in the way the car feels and handles. Now if I can only afford them I would have had them on my car already but every person will have their own opinions. There are so many great coilovers out there for the Z, all the mentioned above are great, HKS, ZEAL, etc. It boils down to what you want your Z to do.

Do you want to sell me your Zeal V6 when you upgrade? I've been looking around for awhile on some Zeals for my G35. Let me know, thanks.

I def. agree with andy@performance. We can talk about quality but getting so many different opinions from so many people just confuses. What I might like someone else might hate. Point is everyone's car is set up differently and everyone has different tastes, find the best quality product for the money you want to spend. PS I will put a tag in the hat for the tanabe pro sevens, put them next to the JICs and the difference is apparent. Plus the dampning adj. actually makes a noticable difference

Meaning...the Tanabe's adjust well? or the JIC's?

Can anyone recommend a good setup under $1300.

I was thinking of:
Used HKS RS
Stance SUS
Tanabe Pro SOC <- **EDIT** Just found out these are not dampening adjustable, so cross them off.

Which one out of the three? Or is you want to add some recommendations go ahead. Looking for a firm ride for daily use, track twice a year and auto-x frequently. Thanks.

KW V2 (slightly more) or a used set of HKS RS would be on my personal short list

[QUOTE=itchyvi3t]yea its hard to justify spending more than 2k on coilovers for me, dont know why, but the zeals are very tempting. Onlything that turns me off is the hks customer service i have to revavle (they dont have a US hq now do they?).

HKS Hipermax are designed for US Streets so you dont have to revalve them.
