Default 350Z Lowering Springs

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to lower my 350Z by getting new Springs. What brand of springs do you recommend? I know that H&R Springs are good, but not sure if I have the money for them. Are there any cheaper alternatives?

Also, how much should the Z be lowered in the rear? .8 inch? 1.2 inch? or What is recommended?

Thanks

H&R too expensive??? then you got the wrong car to mod. . . you get what you pay for. IMO H&R is crap for almost any car. There are so many different and better alternatives. Tein is in my opinion one of the best aftermarket springs for the money. The ride is great and it lowers the car just enough. If you want the best, SWIFT would be the way to go. Expensive, but if all the drivers in JGTC run them, they have to be good.

Tein all the way, great quality for the money(only about $160 with free shipping at intensepower.com) and nice ride....depending on what set you get (H or S tech) it will lower you car 0.2-1.5 inches

Thanks for your replies.

Will dropping your car increase any wear and tear?

I love my Teins. I'm so glad I didn't get anything else because I already scrape on everything enough as it is. I think that it is a perfect drop for the Z. I also added the Tokico D-Spec's for a little bit more and it also made a world of difference.

It will kill your stock shocks in a matter of weeks. Definitely recommend to do shocks and springs at the same time.

OK....school's in session ( hear the bell??) For any modification to a stock suspension to be successful a clear vision of the desired result must be had. You must also consider the effect of any change on the other parts of the suspension system. Camber inevitably is affected by change in springs, shocks etc. Once you change the springs have an alignment done to determine the effect on camber. If camber cannot be restored to stock specs aftermarket toe bolts (SPC makes a great product!!) and camber radius rods will be needed. If you change wheels, especially when you go to a different size wheel (i.e. 19" vs 17") the same applies. Class is out for the day!!!

Can it be said in general; lower will create more chance to be unable to restore to stock camber specs??

Hotchkis springs and sways for 350$. Loved them!! .75 inch drop was perfect with 19 inch rims. Could not get back into specs with alignment, was very close but not quite. My tires feathered like fukc before the springs and were the same after so I guess no additonal harm done with my springs installed.

Another vote for Hotchkis...I've had them on two cars. I also recommend the SPC rear camber/toe kit.

Just realize that the stock Z suspension barely clears many driveways and parking bars. A lower suspension can very expensive. Been there, done that, no thanks.

Tein Basics are fine. Drops the front 1inch and back .8inches according to their instructions. I dropped the back to 1 inch and I already scrape the exhaust going up my driveway, and scrape over speed bumps. I dont understand how some lower the car past one inch and manage to drive it places

TEIN or TANABE...

TEIN if you want less of a drop
TANABE if you want more of a level drop

Eibach if you want a sloppy ride w/ more body roll (from my personal experience)

H&R no experience with, but with price tag, it is steep compared to TEIN and Tanabe

Jason,

Do you get much of a handling improvement with just springs, or is it just for looks?
