stoptech rotor question - pic attached
Just wondering if that looks OK or if I need to do more bed-in for an upcoming track day?
I noticed that the rotor color changed:
Where the pad touches it becomes blueish
Where the pad does not touch it becomes yellow/golden and gets spots?
Not sure if that is right?
Also you can see marks about 0.5 inch wide on the rotor where the pads seems to rub more, and not sure if that's ok too. This only showed up after a couple days driving.
BTW this pic is taken about 1 week after installation and with daily driving and only 1 so-so bed-in cycle and the pads are the nismos r tune.
Thanks for the feedback!
[EDIT] Sorry, I just realized that the brakes forum is a subforum and I posted in the wheels forum

)Also, if your brakes don't smell like they're burning, you didn't get them hot enough for the bed in.
It looks like you have a little pad material on there, but probably could use a bit more...tough to say without seeing in person. Almost universally, people aren't aggressive enough during the bed-in process. They freak out a bit when they start smelling the pads burning, and see smoke.
Get aggressive with them...you won't hurt them. Just don't come to a complete stop with your foot on the brakes until you've cooled them adequately...that's key.
Here are before and after bed-in pics from one of our rotors. You can see the blue-grey color change, and see the pad material stuck to the rotor face. You can also see how the heat changed the color inside the slot, and on the edge of the rotor to more of a bronze.
