Default Buying only front BBK

I'm interested in new brakes because the stock ones SUCK! I'm thinking of a BBK but they are awfully expensive! My car will see occasional track use but a lot more driving through the hills/mountains of NC (we have so many great roads) so I wanted better brakes.

I'm pretty sure that just getting new brakes on the front and better pads on the rear would be sufficient, non? I don't need the absolute best brakes evarrrrr, but of course, if I'm spending this much money I want something worth it. I don't think I'd need a massive 14" kit or something like that, but about 13" rotors would be reasonable for my application, right?

How much am I looking to spend for a front kit like this? What if I buy them used?

Thanks for any help!

I would recommend upgrading the stock-non brembo to a BBK . I've been running a wilwood 4pot 13.6" in the front, stock rears, for about 2,000 miles. It's a HUGE improvement over stock.

I went with 14" Stoptech BBK in front, stage 2 upgrade in rear(drilled OEM size rotors, Hawk pads, SS lines). About $2800 shipped from Paul at Avalon Racing. Couldn't be happier, stops like a SOB.

Look into a set of factory Brembos. You can get the complete set of 4 used for less than a new front BBK.

Actually, a new set of factory Brembos will cost over 5k!

I would highly suggest the Stoptech ST40 front brake kit as they're a great value for the price.

Another good alternative for the price is the AP Racing brake kits.

Have you looked at Fast Brakes?
http://fastbrakes.com/shop/product_i...roducts_id=395

Or Arizona Z Car:
http://www.arizonazcar.com/300zxbrakes.html

I have been looking into both as I want looks and some stoppinig power, not going to the track, just street and dont want to spend a ton of $$

There are only two names of brake kits that I would put on a car that tracks a lot (and believe it or not Brembo is not one of them!). For cost, stopping power, and great pedal feel I would only put:

Stoptech or Rotora on my car!

I personally have Rotora on my car and have been tracking the h*ll out her lately on the same set of brake pads that came with the kit. And my braking zone is LESS than a 2000# car. And not having to change pads before and after an event is really, really nice. Plus, Rotora is at a really great price.
The reason I would not recommend Brembo is look at the total cost of ownership, you will see that it is the highest (intial purchasing and pad cost).

It sounds like our 332mm front only kit would be a good choice for you...under $2000, and great setup for street or track. I ran this kit on my car for a long time on the street and track...only faded them once in back to back sessions with a pro driver (close to an hour straight of hammering them at Buttonwillow). You don't need the rear unless you're having heat issues: http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp...upgrades.shtml

I've personally logged 3K miles on the fastbrakes.com wilwood kit, feels awesome! The kit was a direct bolt on, no trimming or shimming, and I cannot say enough about the customer service.

14.25" 6-pot AP's with SS lines and Motul600 all around. Great brakes since they rarely fade. Only issue I have is ABS kicking in a tad early... I will prolly disable that later so I don't have to deal with it.
