I want Stop Tech because of the tech/research they employ. I was willing to pay a premium for THAT.

When I found out, via vendor, that the Stang boys were getting the same for less I was FLOORED. Hence this post.

Why doesn't Stop Tech make a $2500-$3000 kit that gives you track performance at all four corners?
Once again..They DONT MAKE A 4 BRAKE KIT FOR THE MUSTANGS!!!
Your comparing apples to oranges man...

Hell even the 13", SMALLER, kit from Stop-Tech is more expensive than the Mustang 14" kit!

I hate this import price gouging company's do! It's the same for almost anything. Exhausts, internals, suspension and now brakes! But brakes being the worst, at least Stop-Tech's pricing.

Thanks for maintaining the status quo.

Really...That price gouging bull**** the typical American is busting out with is getting real old. Stoptech could charge w/e the **** they want..It's their product.

Ah yes, shame on me for trying to get a deal. I am sorry. I bet you pay over retail for everything then?

Let me guess, you paid 8% over sticker for your 350z didn't you.

We do not offer any 4 wheel kits for the price you are looking for, but a front only kit is more than capable of handling very severe track use. My sales manager and avid poster here J_Ritt ran many a track day with our front only 332mm kit on his 350Z with stock sized rear brakes and a pad upgrade on Toyo RA-1s and was always among the fastest guys out there.

Heres a link to his lap times at the last event he ran in his 350Z: http://www.speedventures.com/event_r...esults=OA&s=lt

The bottom line is that you do not need to spend 3k to get track capable brakes for your car. In fact, you can spend quite a bit less for top level performance with our front only kit and use what you save for other mods like race pads or tires. Our rear kits can be added on at a later date if you still feel it is necessary but know it is certainly not required to acheive optimal balance and performance.

I waited quite a while to pick my wheels and big brake kit. The single best article that I read was written a long time ago (2002 if I recall) by Dave Zeckhausen.

http://www.zeckhausen.com/Testing_Brakes.htm

This review allowed me to decide what kit was the best dollar to performance ratio kit. A quick summary:

Ave. 60-0
-Stock Performance 118.01 feet 706/478 °F
-Stock Brembo 117.28 feet 553/371 °F
-StopTech 332mm 115.83 feet 551/436 °F
-StopTech* 355mm 115.08 feet 438/501 °F
-4-Wheel 111 feet with wrong front calipers, 98 feet under different test conditions

Ave. 80-0
-Stock Performance 210.47 feet 705/440 °F
-Stock Brembo 208.72 feet 571/395 °F
-StopTech 332mm 206.74 feet 554/418 °F
-StopTech* 355mm 206.56 feet 421/469 °F

These results tell me that the performance difference between the 13" and 14" kit is negligble and would not matter to me unless I was doing hard core track braking. In that event, the 14" would perform with less fade than the 13".

In terms of dollar/performance, the 13" kit was perfect for my daily driving habbits and my intention to do a few canyon runs and track events. It is superior to the Stock Brembo set up found in the Track model.

I remember when Stoptech first asked for a mule car to R&D the brakes back in '02 and wish I would have taken them up on their offer at the time. These guys were the first company to develop a BBK for the 350Z other than Brembo for the track model.

The only other company that gets as much praise as Stoptech and Brembo are the Endless brakes who make silly race performance 12 piston brakes that can cost over $6,000.00 and leaves the dollar/performance issue out of consideration.

I've had the kit for a few days, and they work beautifully. For about $2,000.00 including a rear rotor upgrade, there is no better big brake solution.

Thanks Stoptech and D. Zeckhausen.

Thanks Stoptech and D. Zeckhausen.
Where did you get the 13" Stop Tech BBK kit AND the rear rotor upgrade for $2000.

I already have the rotor and line upgrades all around from Stop Tech. So I should be able to get the 13" kit for even less than $2000? That would be nice. FAR DIFFERENT from what I have currently been seeing.

I received very nice pricing due to past purchases and a longstanding relationship. Generally speaking, just the 13" kit should be about $2,000.00 by itself.

PM me for further information but note, I have no control over what they quote you.

Edit - heh, I got to ask, why are you asking me for this information if you're mad as hell?

$1550 for 14" front calipers, rotors, lines, pads

now put your money where your mouth is and PM the guy and make the purchase.

EDIT: Looks like someone beat you to it. I'm sure if you offered a bit more, it would be yours, for under $2000

As far as StopTech and their brake systems being over priced? I would have agreed with you heart and soul until just recently. I wont go into gobbs of details but lets just as say I was impressed after seeing their product first hand instead of reading about it in a marketing add somewhere (everywhere). Personally I'm not a fan of Stoptech because I hate the way they talk crap about eveyone else products and ideas but I have to admit that can back up all the crap they seem to enjoy spewing from time to time. I hate their sales tactics but love their product. Sucks to be me.
Bottom line... Not as overpriced as we'd like to believe for the performance you'll receive.

I'll say this much - as Stoptech has mentioned, their pricing for the big brake kit, be it 4 piston or 6 piston, 13 or 14 inch, is consistent across the manufacturer range. Same can be said about nearly every other brake manufacturer out there.

Yes $3000 is alot of money, but if what you want is a 6 piston front/4 piston rear, it's not enough - not putting you down, because I agree, it's expensive, but it won't get you a Stoptech 4 wheel kit.

I mean, if I have $100k in cash and walk into the Porsche dealer for a new 911 Turbo, I could make the same argument - "I have tons of cash, and want a new 911 Turbo" - as much cash as it is, it doesn't match the price of admission.

Figure out what you want and what you can afford. If $3k is your limit, go through the private classifieds, and you'll walk away with exactly what you need. If you must have new, the front 13 inch kit is more than sufficient, and you can opt for the rear rotor upgrade, and a good set of pads, and you'll be all set. Remember too if you plan to track the car, not to use the pads that are supplied as standard with the kit, as they won't keep up. Some other manufacturer supply pads with their kits that are a bit better suited for occassional track days, but the Stoptech is more street oriented in it's raw form.

In all honesty, building this car is expensive, just like building any car is expensive. Having been a vendor on this forum, and tons of other forums, for years and years now (5 + years, which is longer than most in the online world), the price for Z parts is pretty much inline with parts for other Japanese cars as well. I cannot compare it to an American car, as I've never owned, built, nor offered parts for them, but by comparison, the aftermarket industry focused on a Mustang is exponentially bigger than that of the Z, and as such, some components will be less costly.
