I think you answered your own question. Flex's are coilovers with both height and dampening adjustability, also when coupled with the EDFC, serves as a easier way of setting the dampening. S-techs are springs and thats it. No adjustibilty whats so ever, not real hard to understand why one costs XX amount more than the other.

Monotubes aren't available for the Z33 until later this year. I have the pre-production set waiting to be installed for autocross and track evaluation. Also look for the Super Race coilovers to be available end of 2006.

if you're just going for looks then get the s-tech springs. The flex are stiff so it's not going to be comfortable on a daily driver. I have tein basics and when driving on uneven roads, they're pretty bad(stiff). In addition, the flex's softest setting is even stiffer than the basics!

Any coilovers in the aftermarket are made to be more performance related so you won't find a product made to be softer than stock. You may as well go with lowering springs and call it a day.

You might want to consider an airbag suspension but that costs more than coilovers.

If you are going to look at an airbag suspension, make sure you have rode in a car with it. I used to have them on my old car and hated it. Also the sound the compressors make are extremely annoying.
