Default s-tune price? and nismo diff.

I've got an 06 base and I want the nismo s-tune package for track/autox and was wondering if you guys knew if there is a cheaper place to order them.

Also I need a LSD. I want the nismo unit so I don't void the warranty, do you guys know if its a good unit or not? Thanks.

Austin

correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought you only get warranty on S-tune parts if the dealer installs for you.

Also I believe the nismo lsd is an r-tune unit which will void your diff warranty

I was informing you that you will in fact void the warranty if you choose any lsd that isnt the stock viscous

If you want to void the warranty the nismo unit is excellent. I and many others would highly recommend it for autocross/track use but it is a little noisy on the street. Unknowing passengers will think that something is breaking in your car when you make slow speed turns due to the popping noise. Some people have had success with using redline oils and some redline friction modifier to lessen these noises

It seems like you were concerned about the warranty in your original post, probrably why people were commenting about the warranty.

both are good items - though for the money, you can do alot better as well.

As mentioned, the S Tune suspension maintains the suspension warranty if you buy it from and install it through the dealer. The differential will void the warranty associated with it as its an R Tune part.

The Nismo diff isn't going to keep any warranty as its an R tune part. And as Z1 said there are better parts out there. I would look at a Quaife or ATS carbon LSD over the Nismo. If you are dead set on a standard clutch type diff go for the Cusco RS over the Nismo. I like my Nismo but I don't mind having a car that sounds like its either (a) broken all the time or (b) like a track only car.

nismo LSD is very sensitive to the oil used and if you use friction modifier or not - mine only makes noise very rarely on occasion in a parking lot when the car is cold

you can certainly get a used VLSD pumpkin and swap it in - a cost effective mod for a base model owner who never plans to track the car, but for seriously spirited driving and especially track days, the aftermarket diff is a virtual must have. The Cusco RS we use in my car is one of my 2 most favorite mods that I've done to the car
