lowering the Z, negative camber in rear
just a lil concern about lowering my z, i have a 20mm offset on a9.5 wide rim with 275's its close now. i havent rubbed yet but wud like to just close the gap a lil more ,maybe lowering it 1.25 inches. its gonna bo close. i know the IRS allows due to the negative camber to kinda bow inward to clear the fender well. my question is has anyone out there had bad tire wear due to not using the rear camber kits they make for the z? i just put brand new nitto's on and dont care to screw them up. anyone?

I dont think camber reduces tire wear THAT much. I remmeber a tire vendor saying that if your tires get 20k miles per tire, then w/ high camber it'll drop to 18k, which im willing to suffice.
Im wondering the same thing about the tire moving in a little more. Im not sure how camber is measured (of if its dependant on height). Im going to try it out cause I have a 10inch rim w/ a 275/40 w/ a +18 offset and its riiight on the line but i want it just a little bit more in, maybe 3-4mm.

neg camber
hi, well this is what i did with my lincoln ls i had. it had a sick stock offset like 47 mm. for a rear wheel drive thats high! i cudnt find **** for wheels so i went with a 35mm which brought it out more than flush ,maybe 1/4 inch past the wheel well . so i lowered it 2in but because of the IRS it kinda bowed inward and cleared the fenders. i mean i was amazed. needless to say i had new rubber on that car too ,but sold it shortly there after so didnt really get to see the tire wear on the inner side of tires. and it did kinda look bowed in, from the rear of the car. its that inner edge of tire that im so worried about , ive seen it happend alot. brand new tread across the tire but the inner is showing threads. just hope someone out there has lowered it just slightly and had no problems. i think honestly 1.25 shudnt hurt anything. thanks for your reply!

If you take care of teh tire pressure, alignments, and rotations, you shouldn't have uneven tire ware. Caster and toe do way more damage than camber. Improper caster or toe or caster and toe can net you maybe 3 or 4k out of a set of 20k tires.

the problem is that as you lower the car your induce toe in. This is especially pronounced on a car like the Z with it's rear suspension design. You would be well served to pick up the SPC rear camber kit and install it when you lower your car
Camber does not kill the tires, unless all you do is drive straight. Toe kills tires

it is highly dependant on wheels and tires. The more you push the wheel and tire to the outside of the car, the more exaggerated the problem becomes. But to answer your question, yes - with your wheels and tires, and a 1 inch drop your toe is going to be horribly out of spec. Heck, I'd venture to say it's probably already out of spec even without lowering

Most don't understand that the extremely wide oem specs are to minimize warranty claims.
The exact midpoint of the range is where you always want to be.
